High-speed casting of metallic foils by the double-roller quenching technique

The ability to produce continuous metallic foils by double-roller quenching with a “mechanically-soft” system has been demonstrated. Significant process variables influencing foil dimensions and microstructures were determined for tin and Al-12 wt% Si foils. The foil formation process is controlled by both fluid and heat flow.
