Capillary gas chromatography of double-base propellants

Chromatographia, 1996
The separation and quantitative determination of propellant constituents on short, wide-bore fused-silica capillary columns, coated with crosslinked methylsilicone phase was investigated. The analytical results were quite satisfactory.

Nonlinear Viscoelastic Analysis of Double Base Propellant

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
This study presents the characterization of the nonlinearly viscoelastic behavior of double base propellant (DBP) using Schapery-type constitutive model in the different conditions of temperature, strain level and strain rate. A recursive-iterative numerical algorithm is generated for the Schapery-type nonlinearly viscoelastic constitutive and ...

A model for double base propellant combustion

16th Joint Propulsion Conference, 1980
The Beckstead-Derr-Price (BDP) monopropellant model that was originally developed as a limiting case for composite propellants has been modified and applied to double-base propellants. The work was performed with the intent of applying the model to modern double-base systems of interest in rocket propulsion.

Radiative Pyrolysis of a Double-Base Propellant

45th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2009
The overall objective of this research is to augment our understanding of the thermophysical and chemical processes involved in the electro-thermal-chemical ignition of solid propellants. To understand the role of radiation, a double-base propellant known as JA2 was considered.

Industrial Explosives Based on Double-Base Propellants

1997
Application of the double-base propellants (artillery and rocket ones) as industrial explosives is reported. The main scientific and technical criteria of development of industrial explosives for open mining (granular powders), detonator charges for seismic prospecting, detonator charges for blasting of wells and also linear shaped charges for crushing

Thermal Reactivity of Double‐Base Rocket Propellants

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 1979
AbstractThermal decomposition studies on double‐base propellants have been carried out in air and vacuum using differential scanning calorimetric, thermogravimetric and mass spectrometric techniques. Low temperature (90 °C–170 °C) decomposition seems to involve diffusion controlled process, the mechanism in air and vacuum being different.

Flame Zone Spectroscopy of Solid Propellants II Double Base Propellant JPN*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1956
With the aid of the automatic-feed strand bomb previously described [ R. G. Rekers D. S. Villars , Rev. Sci. Instr.25, 424– 429 ( 1954)], spectra of JPN burning in nitrogen have been investigated over the visible and ultraviolet. Throughout the pressure range, 300 to 500 psi nitrogen, emission from the flame zone exhibits a continuous background which

Polysiloxane‐based inhibition system for double‐base rocket propellants

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1998
Four hydroxy-terminated poly(dimethyl siloxane) (HTPDMS) prepolymers of varying viscosities and molecular weights were prepared and used with and without alumina trihydrate as a filler. The HTPDMS viscosity and filler percentage were optimized to ensure acceptable pot life and mechanical properties.

Erosive burning mechanism of double-base propellants

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1988
Measurements of the combustion wave structure of solid propellants with and without cross-flow conditions were conducted to elucidate the mechanism of erosive burning. The propellants tested were three types of double-base propellants containing different energy levels: a lowenergy, a reference, and a high-energy propellant.

Combustion mechanisms of double base solid propellants

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1979
The combustion mechanisms of double base propellants in the presence of plateau or mesa producing additives are investigated. The propellant regression is the result of an interaction between condensed and gas phases processes. The condensed phase degradation, could be a prime site for the action of the additive.
