Double beta decay

Reviews of Modern Physics, 1978
The problem of double beta decay is reviewed with emphasis on its relevance to lepton number conservation. Recently, the ratio of the double beta-decay half-lives of $^{128}\mathrm{Te}$ and $^{130}\mathrm{Te}$ has been measured in a geological experiment and a limit for the ratio of the neutrinoless rate to the total rate for $^{82}\mathrm{Se}$ decay ...

Double beta-decay

Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1977
In this paper we study the double-beta-decay process in order to test the existence of an electronic lepton number conservation law. We give general formulae for the transitions 0+ → 0+, 0+ → 2+, 0+ → 4+ for neutrinoless double beta-decay. The double beta-decay of48Ca is studied in detail. From the experimental data we conclude that |δ − 1| ≤3·10−6.

Double beta decay

Reports on Progress in Physics, 1991
Developments in the theoretical investigation of nuclear double-beta decay are reviewed. In particular, the neutrinoless mode is discussed in detail, since it is sensitive to lepton number violation as predicted by gauge theories beyond the standard model and it is expected to give important information on the nature of the neutrinos and the weak ...
