The enhanced high-temperature water vapor oxidation resistance of SiC reticulated porous ceramics with mullite-Yb2SiO5 coating for zero-carbon porous burner

open access: yesOpen Ceramics
SiC reticulated porous ceramic (SRPC) is a core component for zero-carbon porous burner using ammonia fuel. SRPC is being subjected to severe oxidation by high-temperature water vapor.

Cancer cell‐intrinsic type 1 interferon: production, signaling, and outcomes within sex‐biased, female malignancies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Optimizing the coating process for double-coated, wood-containing papers.

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1991
Brightness, opacity, surface strength, ink density, and cracking tendency were not affected by the layout strategy for drying the precoat. Dryer capacity and economic aspects should be considered more than questions about quality in optimizing the precoating installation.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Numerical simulation and experimental investigation of coating influence on extrusion tap wear

open access: yesScientific Reports
In order to improve the service life of extrusion taps and reduce their wear, this paper adopted the coating-simulation technology to investigate the influence laws of tool coating type and coating thickness on extrusion torque, extrusion temperature and

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Double‐Hydrophobic‐Coating through Quenching for Hydrogels with Strong Resistance to Both Drying and Swelling

open access: yesAdvancement of science, 2020
In recent years, various hydrogels with a wide range of functionalities have been developed. However, owing to the two major drawbacks of hydrogels—air‐drying and water‐swelling—hydrogels developed thus far have yet to achieve most of their potential ...
