Universities as the Next Counterintelligence Battleground in Geopolitical Contests

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Globally, universities are increasingly becoming the target of foreign national security actors, engaging in espionage, sabotage, foreign interference and intellectual property theft. Despite that, there has been no examination of the utilisation of counterintelligence approaches by universities to the threats they face from the subordination ...

Carney's Davos Address and the (Contested) Re‐Imagining of Middle Powers

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT By privileging the intervention of Canada's prime minister, Mark Carney, in his January 2026 Davos address, the work aims to re‐engage with the debate around middle powers extending from academic scrutiny to instrumental practice. On core themes, Carney's address provides exceptional focal points pertaining to the role of this category of ...

Wear behavior of different double-crown systems

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2012
The aim of this study was to evaluate aging effects on the retentive forces (RFs) of different double-crown systems. The effects of abutment height, inner- and outer-crown-material, taper angle, and artificial aging were analyzed.Inner (IC) and outer crowns (OC) (240), divided into four groups, 60 specimens each, were manufactured: A: IC = zirconia, OC

Gold‐Doping of Double‐Crown Pd Nanoclusters

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2017
AbstractDouble‐crown Ni, Pd, or Pt nanoclusters have attracted extensive interests due to their aesthetic structure and intriguing properties. However, their doping by other metals remains unknown until now. Herein, Pd4(PET)8 and Pd5(PET)10 (PET: SCH2CH2Ph) were successfully doped with gold and the doped nanoclusters were characterized by using ...

Double-armed crown ethers for calcium optical sensors

Talanta, 2009
This paper presents the characterization of optical sensing membranes for calcium based on ionophore-chromoionophore chemistry. Six different ionophores, 18-membered crown ether derivatives, were studied, coming from 18-crown-6 ether and 4,13-diaza-18-crown-6 ether to a series of double-armed crown ethers with different type of terminal groups.

Crown ethers containing trans double bonds

Tetrahedron Letters, 1981
Abstract The synthesis and spectroscopic properties of 18-crown-6-derivatives containing the E-α,β-dia1koxystilbene moiety as a ring member are described. These crown ethers are chiral but their complexing ability is drastically reduced as compared with the corresponding Z-isomers.
