The diffusive regime of double-diffusive convection [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Oceanography, 2003
The diffusive regime of double-diffusive convection is discussed, with a particular focus on unresolved issues that are holding up the development of large-scale parameterizations. Some of these issues, such as interfacial transports and layer-interface interactions, may be studied in isolation. Laboratory work should help with these.

Double-diffusive convection

open access: yesEAS Publications Series, 2013
Much progress has recently been made in understanding and quantifying vertical mixing induced by double-diffusive instabilities such as fingering convection (usually called thermohaline convection) and oscillatory double-diffusive convection (a process closely related to semiconvection).

Double-Jump migration and diffusive instability [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Mathematical Biology, 2004
In order to look into the stability consequences of a particular migration process in which individuals choose to settle, we formulated a continuous-time multi-species multi-patch model in which individuals migrate by one or two instantaneous jumps while making the second jump with a certain probability that possibly depends on the conditions at the ...

Experiments on double diffusive convection [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Physique
Double diffusive convection is a form of convection that was studied in the past mostly for its application in oceanography and which receives increasing attention in the context of planetary cores.

ON MAGNETOROTATORY DOUBLE-DIFFUSIVE CONVECTION COUPLED WITH CROSS-DIFFUSIONS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2012
The present paper investigates the effect of a uniform vertical rotation and a uniform vertical magnetic field on the physical problem of double-diffusive convection coupled with cross-diffusions.

Linear and Nonlinear Stability Analyses of Double-Diffusive Convection in a Vertical Brinkman Porous Enclosure under Soret and Dufour Effects

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Analytical and numerical investigations were performed to study the influence of the Soret and Dufour effects on double-diffusive convection in a vertical porous layer filled with a binary mixture and subject to horizontal thermal and solute gradients ...

On the solution of reaction‐diffusion equations with double diffusivity [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1986
In this paper, solution of a pair of Coupled Partial Differential equations is derived. These equations arise in the solution of problems of flow of homogeneous liquids in fissured rocks and heat conduction involving two temperatures. These equations have been considered by Hill and Aifantis, but the technique we use appears to be simpler and more ...

Double Diffusive Natural Convection in a Square Cavity Filled with a Porous Media and a Power Law Fluid Separated by a Wavy Interface

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This study deals with the influence of a wavy interface separating two layers filled with power law fluid and porous media, respectively. The governing equations are solved using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and the numerical model is validated by ...
