Fertilization effects on CH4, N2O and CO2 fluxes from a subtropical double rice cropping system

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2019
A 2-year field study was conducted in a double rice cropping system in southern China to examine the effect of fertilization on CH4, N2O and CO2 fluxes using static opaque chambers and gas chromatographs. Two treatments were set up including conventional

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...

A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

Fertilization regimes regulate root rot resistance in Apocynum venetum under long-term continuous cropping via modulation of the rhizosphere microbial community and soil properties

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Apocynum venetum is an important industrial fiber and medicinal crop, which can be severely affected by disease, particularly root rot. To address the risks of vegetation degradation and aggravated root rot associated with long-term monoculture and ...

LSD1 is essential for oocyte meiotic progression by regulating CDC25B expression in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mammalian oocytes are arrested at prophase I until puberty when hormonal signals induce the resumption of meiosis I and progression to meiosis II.

BLADE‐ON‐PETIOLE Genes Enable Genetic Bottleneck Mitigation Through Cross‐Species Repurposing of Floral Persistence Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that BLADE‐ON‐PETIOLE (BOP) proteins regulate floral abscission and senescence in tomato by interacting with TFAM1 to form transcriptional condensates controlling the ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA HOMEOBOX GENE 1 (ATH1)‐mediated abscission pathway.
