MTS‐PolKA: Weighted Multipath Traffic Splitting With Source Routing for Elephant and Mice Flows

open access: yesInternational Journal of Network Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
ABSTRACT Modern datacenter networks rely on multi‐root tree topologies, to ensure efficient and reliable connectivity. However, traditional traffic engineering solutions like equal cost multiple path (ECMP) and weighted‐cost multipath (WCMP) often fall short in addressing dynamic and heterogeneous traffic conditions.

Quantum One-Wayness of the Single-Round Sponge with Invertible Permutations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Sponge hashing is a widely used class of cryptographic hash algorithms which underlies the current international hash function standard SHA-3. In a nutshell, a sponge function takes as input a bit-stream of any length and processes it via a simple iterative procedure: it repeatedly feeds each block of the input into a so-called block function, and then

New Families of Strength‐3 Covering Arrays Using Linear Feedback Shift Register Sequences

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Designs, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 156-171, April 2025.
ABSTRACT In an array over an alphabet of v symbols, a t‐set of column indices { c 1 , … , c t } is covered if each t‐tuple of the alphabet occurs at least once as a row of the sub‐array indexed by c 1 , … , c t. A covering array, denoted by CA( N ; t , k , v ), is an N × k array over an alphabet with v symbols with the property that any t‐set of ...

Security Risks in the Encryption of Database Connection Strings

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, Volume 55, Issue 4, Page 672-682, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background There exists an important and open problem with the encrypting of database connection strings in that related connection strings start with well known identical initial sub‐strings. When these initial sub‐strings are longer than the encrypting algorithm's block size, the resulting encrypted text for related database connection ...

An advanced approach combining solid‐state NMR with powder diffraction applied to newly synthesized isothiouronium salts

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 2, Page 321-332, April 2025.
The synthesis of new tetrafluoroborate and bromide salts of isothiouronium compounds is presented, followed by structural and spectroscopic studies, demonstrating that using solid‐state NMR‐derived intermolecular distances as a restriction can increase the likelihood of finding the crystal structure model when solving a crystal structure from powder ...

Regional Biomes outperform broader spatial units in capturing biodiversity responses to land‐use change

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2025, Issue 4, April 2025.
Biogeographic context, such as biome type, has a critical influence on ecological resilience, as climatic and environmental conditions impact how communities respond to anthropogenic threats. For example, land‐use change causes a greater loss of biodiversity in tropical biomes compared to temperate biomes.

Cellodextrin Metabolism and Phosphotransferase System‐Catalyzed Uptake in Enterococcus faecalis

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 123, Issue 4, Page 378-391, April 2025.
In an infectious context, β‐glucoside metabolism is highly induced in Enterococcus faecalis. Our work demonstrates that this bacterium possesses a network of multiple PTS transporters dedicated to the transport of cellobiose and cellodextrins. The genes encoding the proteins involved in this metabolism are clustered within a single locus in the E ...

Place as a Metaphysical Problem in Albert the Great and Thomas Aquinas

open access: yesModern Theology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 292-310, April 2025.
Abstract Thomas Aquinas’ particular synthesis of Aristotelianism and Neoplatonism, and the intellectual tradition it inaugurated, has at least twice faced critical challenges from developments in physics. Besieged by the sixteenth and seventeenth century novatores and more or less ignored by the nineteenth‐ and twentieth‐century practitioners of ...
