The role of social capital in addressing seed access constraints and adoption intensity: Evidence from Arsi Highland, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
In Ethiopia, limited empirical studies exist on how seed supply access constraints condition adoption intensity (demand). Hence, this research employs the augmented Double hurdle model to incorporate the effect of seed access (local supply) constraints ...

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Additive manufacturing of strong silica sand structures enabled by polyethyleneimine binder

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The limited strength of green parts have been a major hurdle in the Binder Jet Additive Manufacturing. Here the authors apply polyethyleneimine binder to print silica sand structures with double the flexural strength of green parts and 8-fold increase in

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Estimating Productivity Loss Cost according to Severity of Vehicle Crash Injury

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2019
This study estimates the productivity loss cost according to the severity of vehicle crash injury. A contingent valuation survey was conducted to estimate the willingness to pay (WTP) of vehicle crash offenders in Taiwan.

Sustainable Electrochemical Synthesis of High‐Quality MXenes: Mechanistic Insights, Applications, Challenges, and Technological Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical etching provides an eco‐friendly alternative to hazardous HF methods for MXene production. This approach facilitates the selective isolation of the A‐layer from MAX phases with tunable surface terminations. Controlling voltage, electrolytes, temperature, and duration enables the optimal structural integrity. Nevertheless, existing scale
