Association Between Fetal Myocardial Alterations and Congenital Heart Disease Based on Post‐Mortem Myocardial MRI

open access: yesiRADIOLOGY, EarlyView.
Applying myocardial parametric mapping based on post‐mortem MRI is feasible for non‐invasive tissue characterization. We speculated that the elevated T2 relaxation may be an essential myocardial tissue characterization of cyanotic congenital heart disease, potentially suggesting myocardial edema, which may provide evidence to guide appropriate ...

Beat Pressure and Comparing it with Ascending Aorta Pressure in Normal and Abnormal Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes4th European Conference of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering, pp. 276-285. Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2009, 2014
Lumped method (Electrical analogy) is a quick and easy way to model human cardiovascular system. In this paper Lumped method is used for simulating a complete model. It describes a 36-vessel model and cardiac system of human body with details that could show hydrodynamic parameters of cardiovascular system.

Prominent Chiari Network as a Cause of Cyanosis in Infants: A Case Report and Implications for Pediatric Cardiology Practice

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
A prominent Chiari network can cause cyanosis in infants by inducing a positional right‐to‐left atrial shunt. Accurate diagnosis enabled conservative management, delaying surgery until optimal conditions. This case emphasizes the importance of echocardiographic evaluation in differentiating cyanosis mechanisms to guide appropriate treatment in ...

Second‐Trimester Ultrasound Receipt Mediates the Relationship Between Public Insurance and Prenatal Diagnosis of a Congenital Heart Defect

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate the mechanism behind insurance‐related disparities in the prenatal diagnosis of a congenital heart defect (CHD). Methods This was a retrospective analysis of electronic health records of pregnant individuals whose infants received CHD surgery between 2019 and 2020 in the third‐largest United States metropolitan area. The

The Impact of Domain Shift on Left and Right Ventricle Segmentation in Short Axis Cardiac MR Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Domain shift refers to the difference in the data distribution of two datasets, normally between the training set and the test set for machine learning algorithms. Domain shift is a serious problem for generalization of machine learning models and it is well-established that a domain shift between the training and test sets may cause a drastic drop in ...

Prenatal Diagnosis of Horseshoe Lung: A Report of Three Cases and Review of the Literature

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Horseshoe lung is a rare congenital malformation in which the lungs are fused by a parenchymal isthmus. The current literature is very limited regarding cases of prenatal diagnosis and their outcome. Method We retrospectively examined three cases of fetuses with horseshoe lung diagnosed antenatally in our center from 2015 to 2024 ...

Repair of double-outlet right ventricle

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1977
The results of repair of double outlet right ventricle in 26 children are reported. Eighteen of these patients had subaortic ventricular septal defect (VSD), without pulmonary stenosis (PS) in 5 and with PS in 13. Another 8 patients had subpulmonic VSD, without PS in 6 and with PS in 2. All had concordant atrioventricular relationships.
