Phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of oxide systems on the basis of rare earth, alkaline earth and 3d-transition (Mn, Fe, Co) metals. A short overview of [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Review is dedicated studies of phase equilibria in the systems based on rare earth elements and 3d transition metals. It’s highlighted several structural families of these compounds and is shown that many were found interesting properties for practical ...

Double Double Cation Order in the High‐Pressure Perovskites MnRMnSbO6 [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2016
AbstractCation ordering in ABO3 perovskites adds to their chemical variety and can lead to properties such as ferrimagnetism and magnetoresistance in Sr2FeMoO6. Through high‐pressure and high‐temperature synthesis, a new type of “double double perovskite” structure has been discovered in the family MnRMnSbO6 (R=La, Pr, Nd, Sm).

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

Machine learning-enhanced band gaps prediction for low-symmetry double and layered perovskites

open access: yesScientific Reports
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations are widely used for material property prediction, but their computational cost can hinder the discovery of novel perovskites.

Crystal structure, mechanical, electronic, optical and thermoelectric characteristics of Cs2MCl6 (M = Se, Sn, Te and Ti) cubic double perovskites

open access: yesResults in Physics
The crystal structure, mechanical, electronic, optical and thermoelectric characteristics of Cs2MCl6 (M = Se, Sn, Te and Ti) cubic double perovskites are studied within GGA, GGA-mBJ and EV-GGA functionals.

MAGNETIC AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF DOUBLE PEROVSKITES

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia, 2021
The magnetic and transport properties of polycrystalline Sr2FeMoO6 perovskites are strongly dependent on their microstructure. A cluster glass type behavior was shown at the grain boundaries.

Half-metallic antiferromagnets in double perovskites: LaAVRuO$_6$ (A=Ca, Sr, and Ba)

open access: yes, 2001
Based on the theoretical exploration of electronic structures, we propose that the ordered double perovskites LaAVRuO$_6$ and LaVO$_3$/ARuO$_3$ (001) superlattice (A = Ca, Sr and Ba) are strong candidates for half-metallic (HM) antiferromagnets (AFMs ...

Theory of Half-Metallic Ferrimagnetism in Double Perovskites

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
We present a comprehensive theory of the temperature- and disorder-dependence of half-metallic ferrimagnetism in the double perovskite Sr$_2$FeMoO$_6$ (SFMO) with $T_c$ above room temperature. We show that the magnetization $M(T)$ and conduction electron polarization $P(T)$ are both proportional to the magnetization $M_S(T)$ of localized Fe spins.
