Wave propagation in materials with double porosity

Mechanics of Materials, 2020
Abstract This paper is dedicated to propagation of waves with assigned length in a model describing the evolutionary behavior of materials with double porosity. Basic equations are considered for an isotropic and homogeneous material which occupies the entire three dimensional space. Wave solutions with assigned wavelength are sought.

Wave propagation characteristics at the welded interface of double-porosity solid and double-porosity dual-permeability materials

Waves in Random and Complex Media, 2019
In the present study, propagation characteristics (reflection/refraction phenomena) at the welded interface of two dissimilar double-porosity media are investigated.

Double Porosity Models for Acoustics

2013
Double porosity models for acoustics in poroelastic media is derived from homogenization theory. The fluid dynamics on the microscopic level is governed by the the nonstationary Stokes systems for a slightly compressible viscous liquid. The liquid domain is a union of two independent systems of fractures and pores.

Double Porosity and Second Sound

2017
Up to this point in this book we have considered thermoelastic bodies with a multiple porosity structure assuming that the heat flux is governed by a Fourier law, i.e. the heat flux is determined directly by the temperature gradient. Materials technology is advancing very rapidly and it is likely that for many future applications a Fourier law may be ...

Waves in Double Porosity Elasticity

2017
Rayleigh waves and Love waves have long been used as an important tool in geophysical problems employing linear elasticity theory. Rayleigh waves are studied using the Berryman & Wang [? ] double porosity theory presented in section 2.2, by Dai et al. [? ]. Dai et al.

Acceleration waves in nonlinear double porosity elasticity

International Journal of Engineering Science, 2013
Abstract A model for a nonlinear elastic body with a double porosity structure is proposed. We generalize previous work which has concentrated mainly on linear double porosity elastic materials or has had a particular structure in the nonlinearities. Here we allow the strain energy function and the effective permeabilities associated to the macro and

Modeling Transverse Imbibition in Double-Porosity Simulators

Proceedings of SPE California Regional Meeting, 1988
ABSTRACT Published imbibition experiments of an advancing fracture water level surrounding a single matrix block are simulated using various double porosity models. These double porosity formulations are inherently unable to represent transverse imbibition with an advancing water level in the fracture as they are based essentially on one

Analytical solutions for double-porosity, double-permeability and layered systems

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 1990
Abstract A number of exact solutions to the problem of flow of slightly compressible fluids through naturally fractured and layered reservoirs were obtained by the author and his colleagues during the previous decade. The approach adopted to solve such a complex problem is radically different from the traditional approach that is used in the ...

Well Testing Analysis in a Double Porosity Reservoir

International Meeting on Petroleum Engineering, 1986
ABSTRACT Our research results and their application on well testing analysis in the reservoir with double porosity in recent years are summarized in this paper. In the field of theoretical research, on the basis of analytical solution of flow equation for the double porosity reservoir1, calculation methods under three boundary conditions,

Pressure transients in a double‐porosity medium

Water Resources Research, 1992
Pressure transients associated with a constant‐rate pumping test in a double‐porosity (fissured or multilayered) reservoir may exhibit, in succession, several periods of characteristic log linear dependence on time. If the flow in the matrix blocks is primarily vertical then slope halving of the semilog gradient may be observed, but if the radial ...
