Optimal filter reduction via a double projection

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2000
It is known that in many applications there arises the need of reducing the filter order. Solutions have been given for single or multiple variables cases by the use of orthogonal projection. The digital system under attention (multivariable case) is of order \(n\) (the order of the matrix \(A)\) \[ x(k+1)= A\cdot x (k)+B\cdot x(k),\quad y(k)=C\cdot x ...

An integrated reduction technique for a double precision accumulator

Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on High-Performance Reconfigurable Computing Technology and Applications, 2009
The accumulation operation, An+1 = An + X, is perhaps one of the most fundamental and widely-used operations in numerical mathematics and digital signal processing. However, designing double-precision floating-point accumulators presents a unique set of challenges: double-precision addition is usually deeply pipelined and without special micro ...

Double reductions/analysis of the Drinfeld–Sokolov–Wilson equation

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2013
The authors study the following Drinfeld-Sokolov-Wilson system of nonlinear partial differential equations: \[ \begin{cases} u_t + 2vv_x = 0;\\v_t- av_{xxx} + 3bu_xv + 3kuv_x = 0. \end{cases} \tag{1} \] It is shown that the recently developed formulation of the association between symmetries and conservation laws lead to double reductions of the system

On double reduction of short pulse equation

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015
In this paper, the association between the Lie symmetry and conservation law termed as ‘double reduction’ has been employed to study the Short Pulse Equation (SPE), which describes the pulse propagation in optical fibers. Few reductions have been performed and appropriate conclusions are drawn.

THE DOUBLE REDUCTIVE AMINATION APPROACH TO THE SYNTHESIS OF POLYHYDROXYPIPERIDINES

Targets in Heterocyclic Systems, 2019
As a consequence of their inhibitory activity towards a number of carbohydrate-processing enzymes, polyhydroxypiperidines constitute lead compounds for the development of new therapeutic agents in a wide range of diseases. The double reductive amination (DRA) reaction on dicarbonyl compounds represents a straightforward tool to efficiently access the ...

The Double Dermal Keyhole Pattern for Breast Reduction

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1995
A small contribution is made to the dependable keyhole pattern in breast reduction. A double dermal modified keyhole closure is described. It is a simple, versatile, and adaptable method of closure regardless of the pedicle technique used for reduction mammaplasty. A triangular flap (skin and dermis) is incorporated on the medial keyhole flap.

A Hybrid Recommendation Method with Double SVD Reduction

2010
An issue related to recommendation is the requirement of considerable memory for calculating the recommendation score. We propose a hybrid information recommendation method using singular value decomposition (SVD) to reduce data size for calculation. This method combines two steps.

Lagrangian reduction and the double spherical pendulum

ZAMP Zeitschrift fr angewandte Mathematik und Physik, 1993
A geometrization and generalization of the Routh procedure of Lagrangian reduction is presented. This is done by including conservative gyroscopic forces into the variational principle. A Dirac constraint type of construction occurs useful as one of the aids for the nonabelian case. The rigid body as a simple nonabelian example is discussed.

Hierarchy, Circularity, and Double Reduction

2002
Abstract This chapter examines a potential circularity in the idea that to identify with a desire is, roughly, to have a self-governing policy in favor of treating that desire as reason-providing. Without circularity, we cannot simply appeal to such treatment by the agent in the content of the policy by appeal to which we aim to ...
