How to get the best from direct-blown double reeds

Early Music, 1982
John Hanchet's article on the adjustment of double reeds (EM July 80 pp.361-5) underlines what is certainly the greatest problem of all double-reed players: the reed itself. A good reed will make a poor instrument sound better than it is, and a poor reed will make even a top-quality instrument sound deficient.

A simplified decoding algorithm for double-error-correcting Reed-Solomon codes

International Journal of Electronics, 1987
Abstract A simplified error and erasure decoding algorithm for double-error-correcting Reed-Solomon codes is presented. The algorithm presupposes the existence of at least one erasure in the received vector. It can be easily implemented in software and requires a small number of Galois field operations.
