Texture tomography with high angular resolution utilizing sparsity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 2, Page 484-494, April 2025.
This article reports non‐destructive 3D texture mapping of a wide range of polycrystalline materials using synchrotron X‐rays and utilizing the sparsity of the reconstructed texture. We demonstrate an approach to the reconstruction of scanning probe X‐ray diffraction tomography data with anisotropic polycrystalline samples.

A Novel Dynamic Growth Rod Inducing Spinal Growth Modulation for the Correction of Spinal Deformities

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 8, Issue 1, March 2025.
Our research addresses the limitations of current growth rod treatments for early‐onset scoliosis (EOS), particularly their failure to optimally promote spinal growth and the necessity for frequent distraction surgeries, which lead to significant complications and burdens on patients.

Improvement in surface fatigue life of hardened gears by high-intensity shot peening [PDF]

open access: yes
Two groups of carburized, hardened, and ground spur gears that were manufactured from the same heat vacuum induction melted vacuum arc melted (VIM VAR) AISI 9310 steel were endurance tested for surface fatigue.

Effect of shot peening on surface fatigue life of carburized and hardened AISI 9310 spur gears [PDF]

open access: yes
Surface fatigue tests were conducted on two groups of AISI 9310 spur gears. Both groups were manufactured with standard ground tooth surfaces, with the second group subjected to an additional shot peening process on the gear tooth flanks.

A process chain for integrating microfluidic interconnection elements by micro- overmoulding of thermoplastic elastomers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a process chain for in-line integration of microfluidic interconnection elements by a variant of micro-injection moulding (mu IM). A SEBS-based thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) was moulded over polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) to produce

Finite element analysis of effect of double shot peening on residual stress of 18CrNiMo7-6 gear steel

open access: yesJixie chuandong
ObjectiveTo address the issues of uneven residual compressive stress distribution and high surface roughness in gears after shot peening, this study investigates the effect of double shot peening on the surface integrity of 18CrNiMo7-6 carburized gear ...

Review of fatigue and fracture research at NASA Langley Research Center [PDF]

open access: yes
Most dynamic components in helicopters are designed with a safe-life constant-amplitude testing approach that has not changed in many years. In contrast, the fatigue methodology in other industries has advanced significantly in the last two decades ...
