The Political Ecology of the ‘New’ Feminism in Late‐1990s Britain

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 1990s were a vexed time for feminists in Britain. Cultural commentators declared that feminism's key battles had been won, and that given women's ascendency across various political and cultural barometers of success, the country was entering a newly ‘postfeminist’ era.

Patient Safety and Organisational Accountability: Reassessing Criminal Liability Frameworks in Healthcare

open access: yesThe Modern Law Review, EarlyView.
Serious harm in healthcare often results from systemic failures, yet criminal accountability remains largely addressed through homicide law, gross negligence manslaughter and health‐and‐safety offences, frameworks that emphasise individual culpability and are ill‐suited to addressing organisational failings.

Body Size Regulates Niche Overlap Asymmetry in the Subtropical Andes Rain Shadow: Isotopic Paleoecology of Oligocene South American Ungulates

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study provides the first isotopic analysis of Oligocene mammals from Quebrada Fiera, Mendoza, Argentina, filling a major gap in South American paleontology. It reveals a latitudinal gradient in aridity due to the Andean rain shadow and highlights the role of (semi)permanent water bodies in sustaining diverse herbivore communities. Additionally, it

Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals Coordinated Adaptations in Genes, Metabolism, and Gut Microbiota Underpinning Herbivory in Lordiphosa Flies

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics analysis reveals that herbivorous adaptation in Lordiphosa flies arises from coordinated interactions across the genome, transcriptome, and gut microbiota: genomic expansions of detoxification (e.g., cytochrome P450s) and carbohydrate metabolism gene families, transcriptomic upregulation of energy pathways like lipid oxidation and ...

A New Model of Feeding Biomechanics Based on Tied‐Arch Principles

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This new biomechanical model explains the major stress and strain patterns generated through the cranium during biting. The model proposes that the cranium resolves bite‐induced reaction forces through arcs of compressive stress that span the cranial structure between biting teeth and both jaw joints.
