Androgenesis-Based Doubled Haploidy: Past, Present, and Future Perspectives. [PDF]

open access: goldFront Plant Sci, 2021
Androgenesis, which entails cell fate redirection within the microgametophyte, is employed widely for genetic gain in plant breeding programs. Moreover, androgenesis-responsive species provide tractable systems for studying cell cycle regulation, meiotic

Accelerated Breeding for Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) through Doubled Haploidy: An Insight on Past and Future Prospects in the Era of Genome Editing. [PDF]

open access: goldPlants (Basel), 2023
The aim of any breeding process is to fully express the targeted, superior/desirable parent characteristic in the progeny. Hybrids are often used in this dynamic, and complex process for which homozygous parents—which may require up to eight generations ...

Editorial: Doubled Haploidy in Model and Recalcitrant Species. [PDF]

open access: goldFront Plant Sci, 2015
Doubled haploid (DH) technology is a powerful tool in plant breeding to reduce the time and costs needed to produce pure lines, the cornerstone of hybrid seed production.

New protocol for colchicine induced efficient doubled haploidy in haploid regenerants of tetraploid and hexaploid wheats at in vitro level [PDF]

open access: closedCereal Research Communications, 2019
An investigation to standardize the protocol for in vitro application of colchicine for enhancing the doubled haploid production in wheat was done. Two tetraploid (PDW-314 and A-9-30-1); and two hexaploid (DH-40 and C-306) wheat genotypes were used as ...

Imperata cylindrica mediated doubled haploidy in wheat(Triticum aestivum L.): quittances and breakthrough

open access: diamondJournal of Cereal Research, 2023
Wheat crop has a major role in current food system and global food security. Beyond doubt, wheat production has increased substantially, however, there has been increase in world’s population also, thereby, leading to increased food supply demand.

Doubled haploidy methodology for three forage grasses [crested wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn.), hybrid bromegrass (Bromus riparius x B. inermis), and meadow bromegrass (Bromus riparius Rehm.)] [PDF]

open access: goldPlant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture (PCTOC)
Doubled haploidy (DH) methodology is used in many plant species to accelerate crop improvement and cultivar development; however not all species are amenable to the tissue culture technique.

Development of an agronomically superior blackleg resistant canola cultivar in Brassica napus L. using doubled haploidy [PDF]

open access: bronzeCanadian Journal of Plant Science, 1995
The doubled haploid breeding method and greenhouse screening using cotyledon bio-assay were successfully applied to transfer blackleg resistance from the Australian cultivar Maluka (Brassicas napus), into susceptible advanced B. napus lines from the University of Alberta.

Doubled Haploidy in Model and Recalcitrant Species

open access: closed, 2016
Doubled haploids (DHs) are powerful tools to reduce the time and costs needed to produce pure lines to be used in breeding programs. DHs are also useful for genetic mapping of complex qualitative traits, to avoid transgenic hemizygotes, for studies of linkage and estimation of recombination fractions, for screening of recessive mutants.
