Bearing currents in doubly-fed induction generators

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
An increasing demand on the quality of wind power systems affects also more and more the fields of lifetime and reliability. But, problems like bearing damages because of bearing currents counteract these desired demands. Especially doubly fed induction generators, which are wide spread in use for wind turbines up to the MW-class can be limited in ...

Harmonic analysis of doubly fed induction generators

The Fifth International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2003. PEDS 2003., 2004
This paper gives an overview of the frequency spectrum of the stator and rotor currents in a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) used in wind power applications. The paper also presents a method to eliminate higher harmonics and interharmonics in the DFIG stator current.

Frequency Regulation By Doubly Fed Induction Generator

2019 IEEE International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Technologies (ICECCT), 2019
Conventional generators which provide frequency regulation in power systems are getting replaced by renewable sources. So in a system which is penetrated by Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), we need to think of providing frequency regulation features in the WECS itself.

Induction generator based on doubly-fed machine

2018 17th International Ural Conference on AC Electric Drives (ACED), 2018
The authors analyzed the approach to implement a self-contained generator based on an induction motor with a wound rotor with connection of a stator circuit to the load and with the power supply of rotor windings from a regulated source of alternating current.

Control of the doubly Fed Induction Generator in WECS

The 2nd IEEE Conference on Power Engineering and Renewable Energy (ICPERE) 2014, 2014
The major part of the existing research works concerning variable speed wind turbines control is not only to capture the maximum power from the wind but, also, to improve the quality of power and to converge the system for operating at unity power factor. This paper proposes a new power control of a variable speed wind energy conversion system based on

Harmonic analysis of a Doubly Fed Induction Generator

IEEE PES T&D 2010, 2010
The aim of this paper is to develop a framework for analysis of harmonics in a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) caused by non-sinusoidal conditions in the rotor as well as unbalance in stator. Non-sinusoidal rotor voltages are decomposed into harmonic components and their corresponding sequences are identified.

Impedance modeling of doubly-fed induction generators

2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015
This work presents sequence impedance models of Type-III wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG). The models take into account the effects of both stator- and rotor-side converters as well as their control, including the phase-locked loop (PLL) and current control.

Additive and multiplicative fault diagnosis for a doubly-fed induction generator

2011 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2011
The problem of additive and multiplicative fault detection and isolation (FDI) in the current sensors of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is considered in the presence of model uncertainty. A residual generator based on the DFIG model is proposed using the structure of the classical generalized observer scheme (GOS).

Power control for a doubly fed induction generator

2012 IEEE International Conference on Complex Systems (ICCS), 2012
This paper proposes a direct power control scheme of a doubly-fed induction generator under wind speed variations. The PI controllers are used to control active and reactive power. A control scheme is developed that uses stator flux orientated vector control.
