Bearing currents in doubly-fed induction generators

2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005
An increasing demand on the quality of wind power systems affects also more and more the fields of lifetime and reliability. But, problems like bearing damages because of bearing currents counteract these desired demands. Especially doubly fed induction generators, which are wide spread in use for wind turbines up to the MW-class can be limited in ...

Frequency Regulation By Doubly Fed Induction Generator

2019 IEEE International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Technologies (ICECCT), 2019
Conventional generators which provide frequency regulation in power systems are getting replaced by renewable sources. So in a system which is penetrated by Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), we need to think of providing frequency regulation features in the WECS itself.

Induction generator based on doubly-fed machine

2018 17th International Ural Conference on AC Electric Drives (ACED), 2018
The authors analyzed the approach to implement a self-contained generator based on an induction motor with a wound rotor with connection of a stator circuit to the load and with the power supply of rotor windings from a regulated source of alternating current.

Impedance modeling of doubly-fed induction generators

2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015
This work presents sequence impedance models of Type-III wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG). The models take into account the effects of both stator- and rotor-side converters as well as their control, including the phase-locked loop (PLL) and current control.

A Dynamic LVRT Solution for Doubly Fed Induction Generators

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2009
Doubly fed induction generators have become the most common type of wind turbine generators. However, this type of generator is susceptible to grid-side low voltage and short circuits due to existence of a power electronics converter on the rotor side.

POG modeling of a Cascaded Doubly-Fed Induction Generator

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010
In this paper a Cascaded Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (CDFIG) has been modeled using the Power-Oriented Graphs (POG) technique. The dynamic equations of the system have been obtained using a Lagrangian approach. The system equations have been described with respect to a rotating reference frame to clearly show the internal dynamic structure of the ...

Novel Six Phase Doubly Fed Induction Generator through Modeling and Simulation-A comparison with Conventional Doubly Fed Induction Generator

2019 International Conference on Power Electronics, Control and Automation (ICPECA), 2019
Several research articles have been published in conventional doubly-fed induction generator for harvesting wind energy, but the research work on unconventional doublyfed induction generator carried out very less quantity. In this direction, this paper bridges this gap by comparing the three-phase doubly-fed induction generator (TPDFIG) to novel six ...

Critical clearing time of doubly fed induction generator

2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005
A detailed model of grid-connected doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) suitable for fault analysis is presented. 5th order model of wound rotor induction machine together with a two-mass model of the mechanical drive-train is employed to investigate transient voltage stability of integrated wind turbine.

Reactive Capability Limitations of Doubly-fed Induction Generators

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2009
Abstract In the new electricity grid code, reactive power generation by wind farms, which must operate similarly to other conventional power plants, is a major concern during both steady-state and fault conditions. This article presents the reactive power capability of a doubly-fed induction generator through the use of performance capability curves ...

Cascaded doubly fed induction generator using PFC rectifiers

2009 Compatability and Power Electronics, 2009
Variable speed cascaded doubly fed induction generators (CDFIG) have been recently proposed to apply in renewable energy generation systems i.e. small hydropower plants, windmills, shaft generators of vessels and embedded applications. CDFIG requires lower maintenance than DFIG due the absence of slip rings and brushes.
