CDMA-SFBC Downlink Performance

International Journal of Wireless Information Networks, 2009
In this paper a generic code division multiple access (CDMA)-space frequency block coded (SFBC) system for downlink transmission is proposed. Closed form expressions for the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed CDMA-SFBC downlink system are derived and numerically evaluated considering different scenarios.

Relaying in downlink cellular systems

2010 44th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems (CISS), 2010
We present a simulation study of two relaying schemes in downlink cellular systems. We simulate the performance of two relaying strategies: (i) a collaborative power addition (CPA) scheme, cooperative scheme where the relay collaborates with the base station, and (ii) a simple orthogonal relaying strategy where base stations and relays transmit in ...

Opportunistic Feedback in OFDMA Downlink

IEEE GLOBECOM 2007-2007 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2007
This paper presents an opportunistic feedback (OF) protocol that reduces the amount of channel-state-information (CSI) feedback for the OFDMA downlink system. The OF protocol associates a channel value instead of a user to each feedback slot. The users access the slots opportunistically based on their channel state measurement for each tone.

Interference Avoidance for Downlink CDMA

IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2006
In this paper we present an algorithm for codeword adaptation in the downlink of a code division multiple access (CDMA) system where the base station transmits information to multiple wireless terminals. The algorithm is based on interference avoidance and updates user codewords such that the corresponding signal-to-interference plus noise-ratio (SINR)

Deep Weighted MMSE Downlink Beamforming

ICASSP 2021 - 2021 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2021
The weighted minimum mean square error (WMMSE) algorithm was proposed to provide a locally optimum solution to the otherwise NP-hard weighted sum rate maximization beamforming problem, but it can still be prohibitively complex for real-time implementation. With the success of deep unfolding in trading off complexity and performance, we propose to apply

Downlink Transmission Optimization Framework

2012 IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Fall), 2012
This paper presents an optimization framework for downlink transmission parameters of mobile cellular systems. A typical network optimization approach is to divide the network into disjoint clusters of base-stations (BS). Optimization is then performed within each cluster for important parameters such as transmit power, precoder, etc.

Downlink Scheduling of Heterogeneous Traffic

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
Next generation wireless cellular networks will support a variety of quality-of-service (QoS) sensitive applications like streaming multimedia and high-speed data for downlink users. Channel and QoS aware downlink packet scheduling policies are going to play a key role in efficiently utilizing system resources and enhancing QoS experienced by end users.

Downlink PDMA in the Heterogeneous Network

2017
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is considered as a promising multiple access technology, which could satisfy various incremental requirements of the coming fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system. As a novel NOMA scheme based on the joint design of the transmitter and receiver, pattern division multiple access (PDMA) could enhance ...

Closed-form ASE of downlink massive MIMO system with uplink and downlink training

2015 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing (WCSP), 2015
Massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) is one of the key technologies for the fifth generation (5G) cellular system. To reveal the potential of massive MIMO systems, it is important to quantify the achievable performance. Spectral efficiency (SE) is an important performance metric for cellular systems, and area spectral efficiency (ASE) is one of the ...

Capacity of Coherent Laser Downlinks

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2014
Accurate knowledge of information data capacity between a spacecraft and optical ground stations is of utmost importance for assessing the feasibility of laser downlinks in future high bandwidth communication systems from space. For the additional cost and complexity of the downlink systems, there is a growing interest for the sensitivity and spectral ...
