Downstream migration of juvenile fish in the Krasnaya River (Vietnam)

Journal of Ichthyology, 2010
The first material is presented on downstream migration of fish juveniles in the Krasnaya River, one of the largest rivers in South-East Asia. The spatial-temporal structure of distribution of downstream-migrating fish juveniles in the Krasnaya River has traits usually characteristic of migration in rovers with turbid water.

Downstream migration of early larvae of the European river lamprey Lampetra fluviatilis

Doklady Biological Sciences, 2014
Migrations at early stages of development are char acteristic of many animal species. Their adaptive sig nificance is related to distribution of individuals and occupation of the trophic part of the area. As a rule, juveniles of aquatic animals are distributed through downstream migration due to the transporting force of water flow. Many studies deal

A diffusion model for the downstream migration of sockeye salmon smolts

Ecological Modelling, 1994
Abstract The smolt migration (the migration from their nursery lake to the sea) of sockeye salmon ( Oncorhynchus nerka ) is modeled as one-dimensional diffusion with drift. The average downstream velocity of smolts is assumed proportional to the water velocity and water velocity is modeled based on Manning's roughness formula.

Downstream Migration of Silver-Phase Anguillid Eels

2003
Downstream migration of adult anguillid eels in freshwater habitats marks the end of a long, generally slow growth phase, abandonment of a home range, and initiation of a seaward spawning migration. Although different species of Anguilla exhibit variation in characteristics of this migratory phase, some generalized traits in migration are common to ...

An examination of differential survival in downstream migrating coho salmon smolts

2008
The smolt stage of the life history of Pacific salmon (Onchorhynchus sp.) has received little attention relative to the other life history stages. I examined mortality during the downstream migration of coho salmon (0. kisutch) smolts by trapping and marking smolts high in the watershed and recapturing the fish near the ocean.

Definition of a strategy for re-opening the Garonne and Ariège rivers for downstream migration of salmon: simulation of fish mortality caused by hydroelectic installations during downstream migration

2000
