Digital Twin‐Based Optimization of Service Availability in LEO Mega Constellations Considering Handover Delays in Open RAN

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As non‐terrestrial networks (NTNs) become integral to future 6G systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and service continuity over low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations is essential. This work investigates the impact of open radio access network (RAN) functional splits on handover performance in NTNs, focusing on minimizing service ...

Towards a Downtime Cost Function to Optimise Machine Tool Calibration Schedules

open access: yes, 2013
A high degree of accuracy of production machines, especially machine tools, is often highly desirable. Understanding capability, maintaining or improving the performance of the machine requires a periodic full calibration. The idea of maintaining machine

Co‐Design to Capacity: An Instructional Design Approach for Indigenous Women Empowerment and Sustainable Technology Adoption

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The adoption of rural livelihood technologies is often hindered by a gap between participatory design and user capacity. This study addresses this challenge with a co‐designed lemongrass distillation system in rural India that remained unused due to a lack of community capacity, despite a successful design process.

Sustainable Business Models and Environmental Innovation Capacity: The Moderating Role of Board Effectiveness

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable Business Models (SBMs) reflect the degree to which sustainability principles are embedded across firms' business model architectures. However, the mere adoption of these models does not guarantee improvements in environmental innovation capacity due to internal organizational inertia.

Relationship Between Micro‐Level Circular Economy and Sustainable Performance in the Metalworking Industry

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The large multinational metalworking industry has increasingly adopted micro‐level circular economy (MLCE) practices; however, the extent to which these initiatives translate into sustainable performance remains insufficiently understood. This study examines the relationship between MLCE and economic, environmental, and social performance ...

Analysis of offshore wind turbine operation & maintenance using a novel time domain meteo-ocean modeling approach

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a novel approach to repair modeling using a time domain Auto-Regressive model to represent meteo-ocean site conditions. The short term hourly correlations, medium term access windows of periods up to days and the annual distibution of

Data Schema Evolution for the Self‐Adaptive Software Domain: A Systematic Mapping Study

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Context Self‐adaptive Software (SaS) is a special category of software systems that enables adaptation at runtime to address new user requirements or changes in its execution environment. This article focuses on a specific category of SaS named SaS2DB, which encompasses systems that require the storage of data in a database. In short, a SaS2DB

Influence of Viscous Dissipation on Wear Behavior and Hardness Evolution of Tool Steels in Glass‐Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Processing

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Tool steels tested under injection molding conditions with glass‐fiber‐reinforced polymers, revealing how viscous dissipation drives hardness loss, even in PM grades. A sharp rise in wear with increasing injection volume rate and thermomechanical load uncovers striking material differences.
