Doxycycline-induced hypoglycaemia
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 2015Tetracyclines, including doxycycline, are widely used drugs that form an integral part of daily prescribing, and serious adverse reactions (SARs) are rarely reported. The frequency of hypoglycaemia complicating tetracycline treatment remains unknown, and is not a recognized complication.

Bioequivalency of Doxycycline Products
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1975The bioavailability of three different brands and three different dosage forms of doxycycline was studied in normal subjects. Single doses, equivalent to 200 mg of doxycycline, were administered to six subjects in a crossover design as the innovator's intravenous solution given orally (Treatment A), the innovator's capsule product (Treatment B), a ...

Papular Doxycycline Photosensitivity
Archives of Dermatology, 1973Doxycycline hyclate may produce a papular photosensitivity eruption. This eruption is probably a phototoxic reaction. The perivascular infiltrate in such an eruption may show multinucleated giant cells.

Two patients developed acute esophageal ulceration after ingestion of doxycycline hyclate. Despite vigorous investigation no evidence was found to support a viral etiology. The ulcers are postulated to result from close contact between the capsules and the esophageal mucosa.

Two doxycycline derivatives Doxycycline polyphosphate and Doxycycline hydrochloride were administered to rats at a dose of 20 mg/kg body weight. Doxycycline tissue levels were determined using a microbiological assay. Only an insignificant fraction of the antibiotics was found to cross the blood brain barrier.

Submicrobial Doxycycline and Rosacea
Comprehensive Therapy, 2007Rosacea is a disease of inflammation with no pathogenic bacteria involved. Successful treatment of rosacea is possible without using antimicrobial preparations. Oracea capsules provide the antiinflammatory benefits of doxycycline without contributing to the development of resistance to doxycycline.
