Positive modulation of glucagon‐like peptide 1 (GLP‐1) receptor by endogenous haemorphins with implications in glucose metabolism and diabetes

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Haemorphins act on GLP‐1 receptor (GLP‐1R) activity and signalling in a positive allosteric manner. This leads to potentiated GLP‐1‐mediated activity and signalling, as well as insulin synthesis, which may have implications for glucose metabolism and, thereby, diabetes and obesity. (The graph was created in BioRender.com).

Saxagliptin: a new DPP-4 inhibitor for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus

open access: yes, 2009
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global epidemic with increasing impact on individuals and healthcare providers. Available treatments (such as metformin, sulfonylureas, glitazones, and insulin) have proven unsatisfactory in producing a long-lasting ...

The E‐cadherin‐Wnt‐mir‐994 Axis Repurposes a Cadherin Switch for Niche Robustness and Germline Stem Cell Maintenance

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
In the Drosophila ovarian niche, an E‐cadherin‐to‐N‐cadherin switch, mediated by Wnt‐mir‐994 signalling, is repurposed to ensure niche resilience. This compensatory mechanism maintains niche integrity and stem cell support upon E‐cadherin loss, revealing a robustness circuit.

The SGLT2i Treatment Gap in UK Primary Care: A Cross‐Sectional RWE Study of Prescribing in Clinical Practice

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Sodium‐glucose co‐transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) improve cardiovascular and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and chronic heart failure (CHF). Despite clinical guideline recommendations, SGLT2i uptake in UK primary care remains suboptimal and information on utilisation is limited.

Drugs for diabetes: part 5 DPP-4 inhibitors

open access: yes, 2011
The dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors are a new class of oral drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. They inhibit the breakdown of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and increase the incretin effect in patients with type 2 diabetes. In clinical

Surface Energy Modification of Semi-Random P3HTT-DPP

open access: yes, 2016
Alkyl solubilizing side chains on conjugated polymers can serve as a handle for modifying polymer properties. Recently, oligo-ether and semifluoro alkyl side chains were utilized to tune the surface energy of random P3HT-based polymers without changing ...

A 52‐Week Efficacy and Safety Study of Teneligliptin, as an Add‐On to Empagliflozin and Metformin in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Randomised, Double‐Blind, Placebo‐Controlled Phase 3 Trial (TERA305 Study)

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the long‐term efficacy and safety of teneligliptin add‐on in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) inadequately controlled with metformin and empagliflozin. Materials and Methods In this randomised, double‐blind, phase 3 trial, 214 patients received teneligliptin 20 mg (n = 107) or placebo (n = 107) once daily for 24 ...
