Hydrophobicity Modulated Interfacial Water Distribution for Enhanced Kinetics of HER

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In electrocatalysis, hydrophilic structures improve interfacial water management by forming a continuous, compact water film that facilitates proton/hydrogen transport, thereby lowering the effective adsorption free energy of H*. By contrast, hydrophobic structures enable rapid gas transport and promote the capture and local enrichment of gaseous ...

Carboxyphenolate Coordination Frameworks for High‐Voltage Calcium Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hexaanionic carboxyphenolate coordination framework, Ca2‐M‐THBPD (M = Mg, Ca, Ba), exhibits ligand‐centered enolate‐quinonoid redox activity enabling tunable, high‐voltage Ca2+ storage (3.5 V vs Ca2+/Ca) modulated by spectator cations. The amorphous structure accommodates reversible divalent‐ion insertion, contributing to enhanced cycling stability ...

Z Cam stars: a particular response to a general phenomenon

open access: yes, 2001
We show that the disc instability model can reproduce all the observed properties of Z Cam stars if the energy equation includes heating of the outer disc by the mass-transfer stream impact and by tidal torques and if the mass-transfer rate from the ...

Decoupling Intrinsic Molecular Efficacy From Platform Effects: An Interpretable Machine Learning Framework for Unbiased Perovskite Passivator Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an interpretable machine learning framework that disentangles the intrinsic molecular efficacy of passivators from experimental platform effects—enabling unbiased, high‐throughput discovery of effective perovskite surface modifiers.

Constraining mixing in massive stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud

open access: yes, 2019
Context. The evolution of massive stars is strongly influenced by internal mixing processes such as semiconvection, convective core overshooting, and rotationally induced mixing. None of these is currently well constrained. Aims.

Atroposelective Construction of Axially Chiral Tetraarylethenes Via NHC‐Catalyzed Desymmetrization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the first NHC‐catalyzed atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral TAEs via oxidative desymmetrization of prochiral TAE dialdehydes. This catalytic strategy operates under mild conditions and accommodates a broad range of phenolic and nitrogen nucleophiles, delivering diverse axially chiral TAEs in good yields and up to 99% ee.

Electrochemically Induced Interphase by Complex Hydride Anions in Argyrodite Solid Electrolytes for Stable Lithium Metal All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Complex hydride anion substitution in argyrodite electrolytes has attracted attention for improving interfacial stability, yet the influence of these anions at Li metal interfaces remains unclear. This work shows that electrochemically formed BH4−‐derived interphases enable stable high‐current full‐cell cycling.

Phase conversion dissipation in multicomponent compact stars

open access: yes, 2015
We propose a mechanism for the damping of density oscillations in multicomponent compact stars. The mechanism is the periodic conversion between different phases, i.e., the movement of the interface between them, induced by pressure oscillations in the ...

Mechanically Adaptive Polyimide Interfaces for Stable High‐Voltage NCM–Sulfide All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically adaptive polyimide interface dynamically stabilizes single‐crystal cathodes in sulfide all‐solid‐state batteries. By integrating robust chemical coordination with viscoelastic compliance, this smart coating suppresses parasitic reactions and accommodates cyclic volume expansion.

Cracking of Charged Polytropes with Generalized Polytropic Equation of State

open access: yes, 2016
We discuss the occurrence of cracking in charged anisotropic polytropes with generalized polytropic equation of state through two different assumptions; (i) by carrying out local density perturbations under conformally flat condition (ii) by perturbing ...
