Numerical investigation of the reactive gas–solid characteristics in biomass fast pyrolysis of conical spouted reactor equipped with draft tube

AIChE Journal, 2023
Biomass fast pyrolysis is a promising technology to produce available char and high‐value gas due to its green and sustainable ability. In the current work, the biomass fast pyrolysis in draft tube spouted bed has been numerically investigated via the ...

Effect of modified draft tube with inclined conical diffuser on flow instabilities in Francis turbine

Renewable Energy, 2021
When a Francis turbine operates over an extended range of regimes far from the best efficiency point, the formation of a helical precessing vortex rope can lead to reduced efficiency, severe pressure fluctuations, and power swings.

Rotating vortex rope formation and mitigation in draft tube of hydro turbines – A review from experimental perspective

, 2021
Hydropower is a clean and renewable source of energy which is widely used to generate electric power and stabilize the power grid. It can respond quickly to any change in demand with the flexibility to operate over a wide range of time scales.

Numerical Analysis of Water Jet Injection in the Draft Tube of a Francis Turbine At Part Load Operations

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2022
The off-design operation of Francis turbines results in the onset of flow instabilities. These instabilities lead to severe pressure pulsations, power swings, fatigue damage, and torque fluctuations in the turbine unit. Axial water jet injection in the

Drying of particulate materials in draft tube conical spouted beds: Energy analysis

, 2021
Drying is a highly energy-intensive process and dryers are considered one of the most energy-consuming industrial equipment. Nevertheless, the energy contribution of the draft tube in the spouted bed has hardly been studied.

Effect of draft tube geometry on pressure drop in draft tube conical spouted beds

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2013
AbstractA hydrodynamic study of conical spouted beds equipped with draft tubes of different configurations have been carried out for fine and coarse particles belonging to Geldart groups D and B, respectively. The draft tubes used are conventional non‐porous tubes and open‐sided tubes, and runs have been carried out following a design of experiments in

Effect of draft tube position on the hydrodynamics of a draft tube slurry bubble column

The Chemical Engineering Journal and the Biochemical Engineering Journal, 1995
Abstract Two- and three-phase hydrodynamic studies were conducted in an air lift bubble column with an internal loop. The bubble column had a conical distributor at the bottom, through which the gas was sparged, creating a liquid or slurry circulation from the draft tube to be annular region.

Spouting with a porous draft‐tube

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1983
AbstractParticle motion and gas distribution have been measured in 0.3 m spouted beds with porous and solid wall draft‐tubes. Particle velocity in the annulus varied with gas rate and bed geometry. Narrow particle residence time distributions were observed under all conditions.
