Mass Transfer in an Airlift Reactor with a Net Draft Tube
Biotechnology Progress, 1992AbstractGas–liquid mass transfer in an airlift reactor with net draft tube is investigated. The effects of both the ratio of draft tube to reactor diameter and the reactor pressure on oxygen transfer are considered. The value of the volumetric mass transfer coefficient, kLa, increases with a decreasing diameter ratio at higher air flow rates.

Vibration of Water-Turbine Draft Tubes
Journal of Engineering for Power, 1961The vibration in the draft tube of a water turbine is most severe when the turbine is running on part load. This is caused principally by the vortex core of whirling water in the draft tube. The theoretical and experimental investigations of the frequency and force of periodic vibration caused by the vortex core are described, and there is ...

The bed stability of conical spouted beds with a nonporous draft tube located at the bottom of the contactor has been studied, and these results have been compared with those obtained without internal devices, under the same experimental conditions. To design the appropriate geometry of the nonporous draft tube, as well as the height of the entrainment

Numerical simulation of the draft tube and tailwater flow interaction
Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2002This work focuses on the numerical simulation of the interaction between the draft tube and tailwater flow in low head hydro power plants. An approach to the solution of incompressible free surface flow problems is developed. The flow field and the free surface location are calculated by coupling the free surface kinematic and dynamic conditions with ...

Liquid circulation in a draft-tube bubble column
Chemical Engineering Science, 1985Abstract A study of liquid circulation in a draft-tube bubble column (250 mm diameter, 60l. capacity) using a flow-follower technique is reported. It was observed that annulus liquid circulation velocity increased to a maximum with air flowrate and a maximum in the volumetric liquid circulation rate occurred at a tube: column diameter ratio of about ...
