Effect of draft tube geometry on pressure drop in draft tube conical spouted beds

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2013
AbstractA hydrodynamic study of conical spouted beds equipped with draft tubes of different configurations have been carried out for fine and coarse particles belonging to Geldart groups D and B, respectively. The draft tubes used are conventional non‐porous tubes and open‐sided tubes, and runs have been carried out following a design of experiments in

Effect of draft tube position on the hydrodynamics of a draft tube slurry bubble column

The Chemical Engineering Journal and the Biochemical Engineering Journal, 1995
Abstract Two- and three-phase hydrodynamic studies were conducted in an air lift bubble column with an internal loop. The bubble column had a conical distributor at the bottom, through which the gas was sparged, creating a liquid or slurry circulation from the draft tube to be annular region.

Spouting with a porous draft‐tube

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1983
AbstractParticle motion and gas distribution have been measured in 0.3 m spouted beds with porous and solid wall draft‐tubes. Particle velocity in the annulus varied with gas rate and bed geometry. Narrow particle residence time distributions were observed under all conditions.

Structure Design Draft Tube of Xiaoshankou Hydropower Station

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
This The draft tube is one of the main load-bearing structure of the hydropower plant, The hydropower draft tube of Xiaoshankou is an underground space structure, mainly composed by the taper pipe segment, elbows segment and diffusion segment. This paper describe the structure design and calculation process of Xiaoshankou hydropower draft tube ...

Comparative Tests on Experimental Draft-Tubes

Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, 1924
This paper gives the results of tests, made at the Alden Hydraulic Laboratory, on twelve model draft-tubes, to determine the relative efficiencies of drafttubes of different types under the hydraul...

Economic Draft-Tube Proportions

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1941
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to illustrate a new method whereby the most efficient and also the most economical proportions of a draft tube for a water-turbine installation may be found. A study is made of the excavation and concrete costs, as the ratios of draft-tube width to runner diameter and draft-tube depth to runner ...

Vibration of Water-Turbine Draft Tubes

Journal of Engineering for Power, 1961
The vibration in the draft tube of a water turbine is most severe when the turbine is running on part load. This is caused principally by the vortex core of whirling water in the draft tube. The theoretical and experimental investigations of the frequency and force of periodic vibration caused by the vortex core are described, and there is ...
