Flow Visualization of Spinning and Nonspinning Soccer Balls Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Various studies have been conducted on the aerodynamic characteristics of nonspinning and spinning soccer balls. However, the vortex structures in the wake of the balls are almost unknown. One of the main computational fluid dynamics methods used for the

De novo synthesis of short‐chain aldehydes and hydrocarbons secreted by the brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.

Confirmation of vehicle stability criteria through a combination of smoothed particle hydrodynamics and laboratory measurements

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, 2023
This study combines laboratory experiments and numerical modelling in a novel manner to assess vehicle stability. Assessing vehicle stability forms the basis of hazard classification criteria, which in turn helps in forming safety guidelines for stream ...

Drag Rewriting

open access: yesCoRR
We present a new and powerful algebraic framework for graph rewriting, based on drags, a class of graphs enjoying a novel composition operator. Graphs are embellished with roots and sprouts, which can be wired together to form edges. Drags enjoy a rich algebraic structure with sums and products.
