Shock waves and drag in the numerical calculation of isentropic transonic flow [PDF]

open access: yes
Properties of the shock relations for steady, irrotational, transonic flow are discussed and compared for the full and approximate governing potential in common use.

Mastering Complexity toward High‐Performance Multi‐Principal Element Alloy‐Based Films and Coatings: A Review on Microstructural Regulation and Property Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive exploration of microstructure regulation strategies for multi‐principal element alloy‐based films and coatings, with a focus on the interplay between elemental composition, nanoscale architecture, heterostructures and interfacial engineering in tailoring their properties and functions. A systematic analysis of their

VSAERO analysis of tip planforms for the free-tip rotor [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of a numerical analysis of two interacting lifting surfaces separated in the spanwise direction by a narrow gap are presented. The configuration consists of a semispan wing with the last 32 percent of the span structurally separated from the ...

Systematic Benchmarking of a Noise‐Tolerant Conductive Hydrogel Electrode for Epidermal Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
General schematic of the approach. Abstract Conventional Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes remain the clinical standard for electrophysiological monitoring but are hindered by poor skin conformity, mechanical rigidity, and signal degradation, particularly under motion or sweat.

Ejecta‐Modulated Bubble Dynamics Play a Dominant Role in Stone Retropulsion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stone motion during laser ablation is shown to result primarily from asymmetric cavitation bubble collapse, not from ejecta recoil. This challenges long‐standing assumptions and highlights the dominant role of bubble dynamics in laser–material interactions.

Petrofabric Analysis of a Drag Fold

open access: yes, 1963
A simple type of a drag fold of siliceous phyllite found in the Sangun metamorphic formation near the Nakase mine, Hyogo Pref., Western Japan, has been analysed with reference to the mica fabric, the quartz c-axis fabric and the quartz lamellae fabric, and the stress and movement picture in the deformation related to the latter two have been discussed.

Physical Origin of Temperature Induced Activation Energy Switching in Electrically Conductive Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The temperature‐induced Arrhenius activation energy switching phenomenon of electrical conduction in electrically conductive cement originates from structural degradation within the biphasic ionic‐electronic conduction architecture and shows percolation‐governed characteristics: pore network opening dominates the low‐percolation regime with downward ...

Intelligent Thermo‐Self‐Limited Magnetothermia with Heat‐Triggered TERT Silencing for Precision Synergetic Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) mRNA induces DNA self‐assembly in cancer cells, boosting the nanoplatform's magnetothermal properties. This magnetothermia then activates the Hsp70 promoter, initiating siRNA synthesis to silence the TERT gene, enhancing cancer treatment.

Erosion in radial inflow turbines. Volume 2: Balance of centrifugal and radial drag forces on erosive particles [PDF]

open access: yes
The particle motion in two-dimensional free and forced inward flowing vortices is considered. A particle in such a flow field experiences a balance between the aerodynamic drag forces that tend to drive erosive particles toward the axis, and centrifugal ...
