Van der Waals Frictional Drag induced by Liquid Flow in Low- Dimensional Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the van der Waals frictional drag force induced by liquid flow in low-dimensional systems (2D and 1D electron systems, and 2D and 1D channels with liquid). We find that for both 1D and 2D systems, the frictional drag force induced by liquid flow

Viscometer using drag force measurements [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2011
A robust and precise viscometer using the forces exerted by a laminar flow inside a small duct is presented: the force is measured on a long cylindrical sensor dipped into the flow. Two devices of respective volumes 1.4 and 0.031 ml have been realized, demonstrating that the technique is usable with small fluid volumes.

Langevin + Hydrodynamics Approach to Heavy Quark Propagation and Correlation in QGP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We develop a relativistic Langevin dynamics under the background of strongly interacting quark-gluon fluid described by the (3+1)-dimensional hydrodynamics.

A Nnumerical Study of Drag force for Optimist Dinghy on Flat Water

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This study investigates numerically the drag force on the Optimal dinghy, which is one of the official classes of international sailing regatta. The drag force is affected by the forward and backward tilt angles and the heels angles. The results revealed

NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON REAR SPOILER ANGLE OF MINI MPV CAR FOR CONDUCTING STABILITY AND SAFETY

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah SINERGI, 2019
Spoiler attached on the rear part of a car can generate drag force and negative lift force, called downforce. This drag force can increase air resistance to the car, meanwhile, a negative lift force can improve the car’s stability and safety.

Long-span Suspension Bridge Flutter Analysis ‎with Drag Force Effects [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2021
The paper investigates the influence of the drag force onto the flutter velocity and frequency of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Finite element analyses were run in ANSYS by combining unsteady lift and moment actions with: (a) unsteady drag, (b) steady drag, (

Collective Ion Drag Force [PDF]

open access: yesPlasma Physics Reports, 2019
The forces acting on the ensemble of dust grains in a plasma flow are analyzed. It is shown that the nonreciprocal character of the forces results in the appearance of an ion drag force, which depends on the intergrain distance. Results of calculations for two grains and an unbounded hexagonal lattice are presented.

Colloids dragged through a polymer solution: experiment, theory and simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present micro-rheological measurments of the drag force on colloids pulled through a solution of lambda-DNA (used here as a monodisperse model polymer) with an optical tweezer.

Mathematical model of external ballistics of projectiles

open access: yesСистеми обробки інформації, 2023
The paper presents mathematical model of external ballistics of projectile, fired from cannon. The drag force has a decisive influence on the dynamics of the projectile.

On the rise and fall of a ball with linear or quadratic drag [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We review the problem of a vertically thrown ball, with a drag force which is either linear or quadratic in the speed. It is stressed from the outset that these two types of drag correspond to specific ranges of the Reynolds number ...
