Flight of the dragonflies and damselflies [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2016
This work is a synthesis of our current understanding of the mechanics, aerodynamics and visually mediated control of dragonfly and damselfly flight, with the addition of new experimental and computational data in several key areas. These are: the diversity of dragonfly wing morphologies, the aerodynamics of gliding flight, force generation in flapping

Network unfairness in dragonfly topologies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Supercomputing, 2016
Dragonfly networks arrange network routers in a two-level hierarchy, providing a competitive cost-performance solution for large systems. Non-minimal adaptive routing (adaptive misrouting) is employed to fully exploit the path diversity and increase the performance under adversarial traffic patterns.

Aerodynamic Performance of a Dragonfly-Inspired Tandem Wing System for a Biomimetic Micro Air Vehicle

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
The flying agility demonstrated by dragonflies is accomplished by means of complex aerodynamic forces produced by flapping their four wings arranged in a tandem configuration.

Chasing a Dragonfly on the Lawn [PDF]

open access: yesScience Innovation, 2015
In this paper the authors aim to discuss a series of surveys conducted over the past two years through web-survey, through which issues related to eating disorders have been scrutinized with the objective of giving a portrait as to the several aspects concerning those who live in a state of distress by cause of chronic diseases.

The impacts of habitat disturbance on adult and larval dragonflies (Odonata) in rainforest streams in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
$\textbf{1.}$ Dragonfly assemblages (Odonata: comprising damselflies, Zygoptera; and dragonflies, Anisoptera) in Southeast Asian rainforests are extremely diverse but increasingly threatened by habitat disturbance, including logging and conversion of ...

ON REARING DRAGONFLIES [PDF]

open access: yesThe Canadian Entomologist, 1897
Field work in Entomology is full of delightful opportunities, and none, just at present, is more inviting, none more certain to repay well even a little effort, none more sure to yield discoveries of scientific value, than work upon the life-histories of Dragonflies.Of the species occurring throughout the central tier of States, a majority perhaps has ...

DNA Barcoding and New Records of Odonates (Insecta: Odonata) from Paraíba State, Brazil

open access: yesDiversity, 2022
Odonates (Insecta: Odonata) are important insects in the food chains of freshwater environments around the world, being used as a model species for areas of behavior and analysis of environmental quality. In Brazil, especially in the Northeastern region,

Road Mortality of Dragonflies (Odonata) in a Great Lakes Coastal Wetland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Although road mortality of vertebrates has been well studied, road mortality of invertebrates has rarely been studied or considered in management scenarios. Mackinac Bay is an extensive coastal wetland in northern Michigan.
