Cholecystectomy with and without surgical drainage

Thirty-seven patients who met specific criteria had cholecystectomy without drainage, and thirty-seven matched control patients had cholecystectomy with drainage. This study suggests that surgical drainage after every uncomplicated cholecystectomy is unnecessary and may be unwise.
