BOD5 dynamics in three vertical layers in free-water surface wetlands
This paper introduces a first-order variable residence time (VART) model, the so-called BOD-VART model, to estimate the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in built wetlands with a free-water surface.

Connectivity-informed Drainage Network Generation using Deep Convolution Generative Adversarial Networks [PDF]
Stochastic network modeling is often limited by high computational costs to generate a large number of networks enough for meaningful statistical evaluation. In this study, Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks (DCGANs) were applied to quickly reproduce drainage networks from the already generated network samples without repetitive long ...

A fractal classification of the drainage dynamics in thin liquid films [PDF]
It is demonstrated that the dynamic structure is very important for the rate of drainage of a thin liquid film and it can be effectively taken into account by a dynamic fractal dimension. It is shown that the latter is a powerful tool for description of the film drainage and classifies all the known results from the literature.

Organic Permeable Base Transistors—Reliable Large‐Scale Anodization for High Frequency Devices
Electrochemical anodization is optimized for organic permeable base transistors (OPBTs), achieving an unprecedented 87% yield and reproducibility for vertical organic transistors (VOTs) on a 15 x 15 cm wafer. Controlled Al base oxidation ensures a median transconductance of 10−3 S, leakage current below 10−9 A, current gain of 106, and transit ...

Graph neural network-based surrogate modelling for real-time hydraulic prediction of urban drainage networks [PDF]
Physics-based models are computationally time-consuming and infeasible for real-time scenarios of urban drainage networks, and a surrogate model is needed to accelerate the online predictive modelling. Fully-connected neural networks (NNs) are potential surrogate models, but may suffer from low interpretability and efficiency in fitting complex targets.

Burst dynamics during drainage displacements in porous media: Simulations and experiments [PDF]
We investigate the burst dynamics during drainage going from low to high injection rate at various fluid viscosities. The bursts are identified as pressure drops in the pressure signal across the system. We find that the statistical distribution of pressure drops scales according to other systems exhibiting self-organized criticality.

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Greenland subglacial drainage evolution regulated by weakly connected regions of the bed
Penetration of surface meltwater to the bed of the Greenland Ice Sheet each summer causes an initial increase in ice speed due to elevated basal water pressure, followed by slowdown in late summer that continues into fall and winter.
