Performance of Hydraulic Models Compared to Geomorphological and Botanical Approaches to Delineate the Ordinary High Water Mark for Small Rivers

open access: yesEcohydrology, Volume 18, Issue 7, October‐November 2025.
ABSTRACT The ordinary high water mark (OHWM) delineates the water environment from the land environment. The preferred method for the OHWM delineation in Québec, Canada, is a method based solely on bank vegetation characteristics, positioning the botanical OHWM (BOHWM) at the transition from hydrophytic to terrestrial vegetation.

Modelling the Spatio‐Temporal Effects of Water Level Control in an Agricultural Collector Ditch Network

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1717-1729, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The study focused on modelling open channel flow in an agricultural ditch network. The objectives were (1) to set up a computational tool to explore the hydraulic impacts of water level control in a collector ditch network and (2) to test the effects of damming height and ditch flow resistance on the water level and its relation to field ...

Deficit Irrigation and Soil Amendment as Drought Adaptation Strategies: Water Use Efficiency in Pot Experiments With Wheat

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1538-1552, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Amidst climate change and recurring droughts, increasing irrigation water amount and frequency alone is not a definitive solution to address water scarcity in agricultural crop production, particularly in soils with poor water retention capacity. This study evaluated the effects of two drought adaptation strategies (deficit irrigation and soil

Modelling the Impact of Drained and Undrained Conditions on GHG Emissions in Croplands: A Case Study in Lincolnshire, UK

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1751-1765, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Agricultural drainage plays a crucial role in land management and crop productivity but significantly impacts greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study examines the effects of drained and undrained soil conditions on GHG emissions in croplands via a case study in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.

Expert perceptions regarding the effectiveness and feasibility of nature‐based solutions for climate change adaptation in a large Mediterranean Basin

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 7, Issue 10, Page 2511-2531, October 2025.
Abstract Floods and droughts are becoming increasingly frequent and intense in the Mediterranean region. Nature‐based solutions (NBS) are being put forward as cost‐effective solutions for climate change adaptation to reduce the impacts of floods and droughts and provide multiple other benefits and ecosystem services.

Graphene‐Based Opto‐Electronic Platform for Ultra‐Sensitive Biomarker Detection at Zeptomolar Concentrations

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 20, 2025.
An opto‐electronic graphene‐based biosensor detects immunoglobulin M (IgM) at 100 zeptomolar (10−19 M) concentration. It features a biofunctionalized gold electrode capacitively coupled to a graphene electrode via a water‐soaked paper strip. Surface potential changes induced by few affinity events are transduced as shifts of the graphene phonon ...
