Permeability Behavior of High-Moisture Content Dredged Slurries

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology, 2015
In order to understand permeability behavior of high-moisture content dredged slurry in a storage yard, this article utilizes two modified oedometers to conduct consolidation and permeation tests on various kinds of high-moisture content dredged slurries in China.

Vacuum-induced lateral deformation around a vertical drain in dredged slurry

Geosynthetics International, 2022
The horizontal strain in the vacuum preloading/dewatering of dredged slurry is significant to the apparent clogging effect and estimation of surface settlement around a drain; however, it has seldom been investigated in previous studies. In this study, a vacuum consolidation model test assisted by particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology was ...

Rheological behavior of dredged slurries at high water contents

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology, 2016
ABSTRACTEach year in the world, there is significant amount of dredged slurries generated during geotechnical jobs. In the slurry storage process, the rheological behavior is a key factor affecting the motion of dredged slurries. To gain better understanding on this behavior, experiments on dredged slurries with different liquid limits are conducted ...

Compression Behavior of Dredged Slurries at High Water Contents

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology, 2014
Oedometer tests were carried out using modified oedometer apparatuses on three different kinds of dredged slurries. Test results show that the compressibility of dredged slurries is influenced by initial water content when the initial water content is lower than upper limit water content.

Experimental study on settling velocity of soil particles in dredged slurry

Marine Georesources & Geotechnology, 2016
ABSTRACTStudying sedimentation and consolidation of dredged slurry has significant implications to the design of storage yard and subsequent ground improvement. In this study, settling velocity of soil particles in dredged slurry during sedimentation and consolidation processes was investigated using an improved multilayer extraction sampling (MES ...

Vacuum preloading and electro-osmosis consolidation of dredged slurry pre-treated with flocculants

Engineering Geology, 2018
Abstract To improve the consolidation of dredged slurry, a combined method of vacuum preloading and electro-osmosis consolidation was applied to a dredged slurry pre-treated with flocculants. In this study, the optimal mixing ratio of two conventional inorganic flocculants was determined by conducting a settling column test.

One-Step Processing of Waste Dredged Slurry into Planting Soil by Targeted Pretreatment and Vacuum Filtration

Journal of Environmental Management, 2023
A novel method, targeted pretreatment and vacuum filtration (TP-VF), is introduced and validated in this study. TP-VF offers a one-step solution for efficiently dewatering dredged slurry (DS) characterized by heavy metal contamination, high salinity, and excessive moisture content. This innovative approach combines targeted pretreatment (TP) and vacuum

Effect of a sealed connector on the improvement of dredged slurry under vacuum preloading

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Geotechnical Engineering, 2019
For ground improvement of dredged slurry in a land reclamation area in China, a membrane–connector vacuum preloading method that integrates membrane-based and membrane-free methods was studied by laboratory tests. In this method, airtight membranes over the surface of the dredged slurry are used to maintain the vacuum pressure and prefabricated ...

Effects of pressurizing timing on air booster vacuum consolidation of dredged slurry

Geotextiles and Geomembranes, 2020
Abstract Air booster vacuum preloading is a newly improved method applied in land reclamation projects. Highly pressurized air can provide an additional pressure difference between the prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) and injection point, thereby increasing the hydraulic gradient and generating small fractures that can improve the soil permeability
