The study of the separation and deposition of dredging soil slurry under physical disturbance

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2023
Most existing research uses experimental designs for testing, which cannot efficiently analyse the migration and sorting rules of particles in the disturbed slurry. Therefore, based on the fluidized bed flow film theory, a slurry flow film structure system is established according to the disturbance state of the fluid.

Sedimentation and consolidation behaviour of fly ash-based geopolymer stabilised dredged mud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Ports conduct maintenance and capital dredging campaigns to maintain channel depths, improve navigational safety of vessels, and to cater for larger ships with deeper draughts.

Sludge solidification based on carbon dioxide foam cement slurry

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
River and lake dredging will produce a large amount of dredged sludge with high water content and compressibility. Using the carbon dioxide as the foam gas source to prepare carbon dioxide foam cement slurry and use it as the solidification material to ...

Effect of Turbulent Fluctuation on Settling Behavior of Dredged Slurry in Sheared Condition

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2021
For the land shortage problem upon the city development in coastal areas, it is of great importance to improve the overall understanding of the settlement behavior of dredged slurry and determine the required site water storage capacity as well as the mechanical properties of the newly formed dredged slurry.

Sediment addition to address tidal marsh elevation deficits caused by farm impoundments: a Delaware Bay, New Jersey, United States case study

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Dredge material use is emerging as an important technique for restoring marshes threatened by historic mismanagement and sea‐level rise, yet optimal methods to maximize ecological benefit remain under development. The Delaware Estuary is in urgent need of restoration, as historic agricultural conversion caused substantial and ...

Influence of fly ash-based geopolymer binder on the sedimentation behaviour of dredged mud

open access: yes, 2017
This laboratory study investigated the sedimentation behavior of a fly ash–based geopolymer-stabilized dredged-mud slurry extracted from the Port of Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

High and dry: the persistence of diverse coastal marsh communities depends on available upland area and connection to surrounding waters

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Sea‐level‐rise and alterations to natural hydrology have contributed to coastal land loss. To combat coastal land loss and maintain the ecosystem services provided by marshes, marsh creation has been broadly implemented. Marsh creation projects can be performed in conjunction with the construction of elevated terrestrial ridges that seek to mimic ...

Model predictive control for slurry pipeline transportation of a cutter suction dredger [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSDs) are a special type of ships designed for construction and maintenance projects of ocean and offshore engineering. During the dredging operation, CSDs can excavate nearly all kinds of soil on the sea bed, and then the ...

Free‐living Black‐tailed Godwits maintain constant intake rates across varying grassland habitat conditions by adjusting their foraging behaviour

open access: yesIbis, Volume 168, Issue 3, Page 876-889, July 2026.
Free‐living birds need to acquire enough food to fulfil their energetic needs, which may require more effort in habitats with less favourable conditions. Therefore, to maintain their necessary energy intake, birds need to adjust their foraging behaviour in response to varying habitat conditions.

Carbon Dioxide Uptake and Storage in Construction Materials: Mechanisms, Theoretical Capacity, and Global Potential

open access: yescScience, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The construction sector constitutes a major source of global carbon dioxide emissions, and cement production contributes substantially via fuel combustion and limestone decomposition. These challenges have encouraged the incorporation of carbon dioxide into construction materials through mineralization.
