Enhanced Ultrasound Transmission Through Aberration Layers Using Space‐Coiling Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing ultrasound transmission through an aberration layer exhibiting mismatched impedance with the surrounding medium possesses great implications in imaging and treatment. In this study, we show that a space‐coiling acoustic metamaterial with judiciously tailored structural profile can help improve impedance matching.

A comparison of EOG baseline drift mitigation techniques

Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, 2020
Abstract Objective Electrooculography (EOG) is an eye movement recording technique based on the electrical activity due to the eyes, which may be used to develop human computer interfaces. The EOG signal baseline is subject to drifting and, although several baseline drift mitigation techniques have been proposed in the literature, the specific ...

Agrochemical spray drift; assessment and mitigation—A review*

Journal of Environmental Science and Health - Part B Pesticides, Food Contaminants, and Agricultural Wastes, 2010
During application of agrochemicals spray droplets can drift beyond the intended target to non-target receptors, including water, plants and animals. Factors affecting this spray drift include mode of application, droplet size, which can be modified by the nozzle types, formulation adjuvants, wind direction, wind speed, air stability, relative humidity,

Windbreaks as a pesticide drift mitigation strategy: a review

Pest Management Science, 2001
Abstract The use of natural and artificial barriers to mitigate pesticide drift from agricultural and forest applications is discussed. This technique has been considered as an alternative to current methods at a time when environmental concerns are under great public scrutiny.

Drift mitigation in integrated sensor interfaces

2017 7th IEEE International Workshop on Advances in Sensors and Interfaces (IWASI), 2017
Sensors are increasingly used in many emerging application areas such as internet of things and autonomous driving. Integrated sensor interfaces offer the benefit of low cost and low power consumption. However, besides the nominal performance, also the drift as a function of temperature, supply and other variations is a key limitation to the precision ...

Social Enterprises, Mission Drift, and Mitigation Strategies

Journal of Resources, Energy and Development, 2023
The paper has attempted to bring out the importance of social enterprises (SEs) and the role they play in accelerating the 2030 development agenda. SEs are primarily hybrid organizations emanating from the area of social entrepreneurship. There are, nonetheless, challenges that these organizations encounter.

Spray drift measurements to evaluate the Belgian drift mitigation measures in field crops

Crop Protection, 2008
Abstract Germany, England, the Netherlands and Sweden have adopted measures to reduce the pollution of surface waters by spray drift in field crops and orchards. In 2004, Belgium also adopted a drift mitigation strategy. The Belgian legislation mainly consists of a classification list of spray nozzles; air assistance and shielded systems are also ...

Spray Drift Mitigation with Spray Mix Adjuvants

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2008
Numerous drift reduction adjuvants and spray deposition aids are available to applicators of crop production and protection chemicals. Performance of many of the newly introduced drift control adjuvants has not been well documented for aerial application.

Drift evaluation tool to raise awareness and support training on the sustainable use of pesticides by drift mitigation

Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2013
In order to protect water and other sensitive areas from spray drift, and make the best use of mitigation measures, an evaluation of drift risk should be made prior to a spray application. The objective of this work was to develop a practical, interactive tool to evaluate the risk of spray drift for specific weather and field situation, and propose ...
