A Calculation Model for Hydraulic Cutting Torque in Offshore Oil Fields Considering the Dynamics of Drill String

open access: yesShiyou jixie
Hydromechanical cutters are commonly used in offshore oilfields to cut previous sand-control strings and casing during wellbore preparation prior to the drilling of adjustment wells.

Research and Application of Optimal Placement of Hydraulic Oscillator

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2016
Sliding drilling in complex well often encounters serious weight stacking, resulting in inadequate WOB and low ROP.Hydraulic oscillator introduces an axial oscillating motion on the drilling string by axial vibration,so to transfer the static friction ...

Evidence for Limited Atmospheric CO2 Rise at the Miocene Climatic Optimum

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The Miocene Climatic Optimum (MCO; 16.9–14.7 Ma) was a relatively warm period with atmospheric CO2 averaging ∼500 μatm but CO2 change across its onset is poorly documented. We present a record of algal 13C‐fractionation covering the Early to Middle Miocene (∼18.5–15 Ma), with a gap at the MCO onset, from Ocean Drilling Program Site 959 in the ...

Martian Proton Albedo as Signature of Near‐Surface Water

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Understanding the Martian soil water budget is crucial not only for in situ resource utilization in future human missions to Mars, but also for reconstructing the geological and climatic history of the planet, as well as to assess the potential of ancient or even present microbial life.

Predation on Artificial Caterpillars Varies With Vertical Stratification but Not Light Gradients in a Sugar Maple Temperate Forest

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 6, Page 559-569, June 2026.
Predation pressure varies vertically, with highest arthropod predation in the understory and highest bird predation in the canopy. Light availability differs across vertical strata, but predation patterns are more strongly influenced by height and forest structure than by light gradients.

Morphological ontogeny and growth patterns of gold‐ringed octopus Amphioctopus fangsiao: Implications for aquaculture development

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract To evaluate the aquaculture potential and developmental characteristics of the holobenthic octopus Amphioctopus fangsiao, we conducted artificial breeding and continuous rearing of Amphioctopus fangsiao from hatching to 150 days post‐hatching (dph) under laboratory conditions using broodstock collected from Fujian, China.

Shaping future forests: how can ecophysiology support climate‐smart forest management?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 2778-2813, June 2026.
Summary Climate change, particularly the associated increase in extreme events and disturbances, threatens the numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits that forests provide, both locally and globally. Heat and drought pose significant risks to forest ecosystems; the anticipated future climate is expected to exacerbate this trend ...

Aspects of finite temperature corrections in string theory

open access: yes, 2011
PhDIn this thesis some aspects of temperature corrections in string theory are analyzed: in particular, we study the thermal contributions to the 4 dimensional effective potential arising from string theory compactifications.
