Intrabandgap States Engineering in Functionalized Nanodiamond to Generate Solvated Electrons for Photocatalysis Under Solar Illumination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The negative electron affinity of diamond allows to emit highly reductive electrons. By introducing intra‐bandgap states and an optimized electron transfer mechanism by surface functionalization with Ru(bpy)3, the formation of solvated electrons is achieved upon solar irradiation.

Insights into the Transformation Patterns of Overmature, Organic-Rich Shale Reservoirs under High-Temperature Conditions: Evidence from Physical Experiments

open access: yesYankuang ceshi
The efficient development of shale oil and gas is crucial for China’s energy security. Shale exhibits characteristics such as well-developed bedding planes, strong heterogeneity, low porosity, and low permeability. Previous studies have demonstrated that

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

The Social Production of Age, Space and Exclusion: Towards a More Theory‑Driven Understanding of Spatial Exclusion Mechanisms in Later Life

open access: yesSociální studia, 2018
Gerontology has for a long time been described as “data rich, but theory poor”. This is true for the study of spatial exclusion, too: in a recent scoping review on old‑age exclusion, Walsh and his colleagues called for more theoretical work in the field ...

Through Diamond Robust Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thin film diamond growth offers a unique opportunity for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS); the encapsulation of plasmonic nanostructures within a transparent, chemically stable, and physically robust coating. The diamond acts as both a window and protective layer, enabling illumination of the plasmonic nanostructures through the diamond ...

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...
