New Drilling Technology for Hole Cleaning and Efficient Drilling

open access: yes, 2020
Well integrity is an important safety aspect of a well. Lack of wellbore integrity can lead to challenges like wellbore collapse, stuck pipe, lost circulation and sloughing shales, which are all big problems for drillers. Loss of circulation and stuck pipe is a high cost problem and is affecting the drilling optimisation considerably.

Universal Electronic‐Structure Relationship Governing Intrinsic Magnetic Properties in Permanent Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Permanent magnets derive their extraordinary strength from deep, universal electronic‐structure principles that control magnetization, anisotropy, and intrinsic performance. This work uncovers those governing rules, examines modern modeling and AI‐driven discovery methods, identifies critical bottlenecks, and reveals electronic fingerprints shared ...

An optimization technique based on mechanical specific energy concept to improve drilling efficiency: a case study

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института
For years attempts have been made in the drilling industry to increase the drilling efficiency and decrease the associated costs. The drilling efficiency can be evaluated by comparing applied energy, i.e., mechanical specific energy, with rock strength ...

Drilling operation efficiency

open access: yes, 2014
The petroleum industry on the Norwegian Continental Shelf is in a time with well construction time and cost as an increased challenging factor. The operators desire to discontinue this trend and are currently cutting cost. Consequently, a contractor similar to COSL Drilling AS meets a demand for a more efficient operation.

An Ultrafast Self‐Gelling Versatile Hydrogel for Rapid Infected Burn Wound Repair in Military Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐gelling PG@PAC (POD/Gel‐CDH@PA/CHX) powder is developed for infected burn care in austere settings. Upon contact with wound exudate, it instantly forms an adhesive hydrogel, providing simultaneous hemostasis, broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity, reactive oxygen species scavenging, and immunomodulation. In a murine model of S.

Analysis of Drilling Fluid Rheology & Pressure Drop Modelling to Improve Drilling Efficiency

open access: yes, 2018
The major drilling problems such as fluid loss, wellbore strengthening, well control, carrying capacity, torque & drag, stuck pipe, etc. can result from the improper matching of drilling fluid properties. These problems occur due to variations in pressure, and temperature which has a great impact on the rheological properties.

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Deterministic hBN Bubbles as a Versatile Platform for Studies on Single‐Photon Emitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters (SPEs) in hBN are promising for quantum technologies; however, in exfoliated samples their activation is required, limiting reproducibility of previous studies. This work introduces a large‐area MOVPE‐grown hBN platform that hosts SPEs without prior activation.
