ABSTRACT In August. 1986, Tenneco Oil Company's subsidiary, Hocol, conducted a drilling efficiency study of the 32 wells drilled in its San Francisco field near Neiva, Colombia.1 The objective set forth in the study was to reduce the average precompleted well cost from $294,000 per well to $173,150 per well (41% reduction).
