APPLICATION OF MATHEMATICAL DRILLING MODEL ON SOUTHERN IRAQI OIL FIELDS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2008
Minimum-cost well drilling demands the best use of controllable drilling variables for each formation to be drilled. To reach this aim, this study was divided into two main parts: The first part deals with applying a mathematical drilling model to field

Investigation: Cutting Transport Mechanism in Inclined Well Section under Pulsed Drilling Fluid Action

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Due to gravity, drilling cuttings are easily accumulated in an inclined well section, ultimately forming a cuttings bed, which places the drill pipe under strong friction torque.

Drilling rate changes when air drilling is switched to mist drilling. [Claystone] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Eight shallow (30-foot-deep) holes were drilled in four formations to determine if the reduction in penetration rate that usually occurs when air drilling is changed to mist drilling might be due to the physical action of drilling a wet, soapy rock. The results showed an average loss of 9.3%, with the greatest loss occurring in limestone.

An approach for optimization of controllable drilling parameters for motorized bottom hole assembly in a specific formation

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
This study focuses on optimizing drilling parameters when using Positive Displacement Motors (PDMs). In drilling operations involving mud motors, weight-on-bit (WOB) alterations lead to variations in the system's parasitic pressure drop.
