Simulation Study of Reentry Dynamics of a Deep-Water Drilling Riser System Based on Model Predictive Control

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao, 2023
A marine drilling riser at normal operation condition is required to disconnect the lower marine riser package (LMRP) and blow-out preventer (BOP) in case of severe weather. When the weather gets fine, it must reconnect the LMRP and the BOP. This process

Dynamic Analysis of a Drillstring-Riser System Drilling in Deep Water

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
A mathematical model of a drillstring-riser system is developed to analyze the system dynamics when drilling in deep water. For the proposed model, a riser and a drillstring are combined as a pipe-in-pipe structure, along which the interactions between ...

An intelligent recoil controller for riser system based on fuzzy control theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
Riser recoil control is a complicated nonlinear control problem. An intelligent control methodology is proposed to control the complicated riser recoil response based on fuzzy control theory. A dynamic nonlinear model of drilling riser/tensioner coupling

Drilling Riser Model Test for Software Verification

open access: yesJournal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 2016
Marine drilling riser is subject to complicated environmental loads which include top motions due to mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU), wave loads, and current loads. Cyclic dynamic loads will cause severe fatigue accumulation along the drilling riser system, especially at the subsea wellhead (WH).

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.
