Drimane-type sesquiterpenoids from the liverwort Diplophyllum serrulatum
Phytochemistry, 1994Abstract The liverwort, Diplophyllum serrulatum afforded three new drimane-type sesquiterpenoids albicanic acid, albicanal and isoalbicanal, in addition to (+)-albicanol, (−)-drimenol, (+)-trans-γ-monocyclofarnesol, ent-spathulenol and anastreptene. Their structures were established by chemical and spectral means.

Drimane-type sesquiterpenoids from Cryptoporus volvatus infected by Paecilomyces varioti
Phytochemistry, 1993Abstract Three simple drimane-type sesquiterpenoids and two drimane sesquiterpenic ethers of isocitric acid were isolated from Cryptoporus volvatus infected by the fungus Paecylomyces varioti . The ether bond of cryptoporic acids obtained from fresh C. volvatus , were cleaved by P. varioti to give simple drimane sesquiterpenoids.

Drimane-type sesquiterpenoids from the liverwort Makinoa crispata
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract Three new drimane-type sesquiterpenoids, 7α-chloro-6β-hydroxyconfertifoline, 6β,7α-dihydroxyconfertifoline and 6β,7β-epoxyconfertifoline were isolated from the liverwort Makinoa crispata together with the previously known eudesmane-type sesquiterpene lactone, crispatanolide and a sacculatane-type diterpene dialdehyde, perrottetianal A.

Drimane-type sesquiterpenoids from cultures of the fungus Xylaria polymorpha
Phytochemistry Letters, 2017Abstract Three new drimane-type sesquiterpenoids named xylariaines A–C (1–3), together with one known analogue (4), were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of cultures of the fungus Xylaria polymorpha (Pers.: Fr.) Grer. Their structures were elucidated unambiguously by NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Total Syntheses of Drimane-Type Sesquiterpenoids Enabled by a Gold-Catalyzed Tandem Reaction
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2011Development of a gold-catalyzed tandem reaction of 1,7-diynes with both internal and external nucleophiles was realized, which constructed five chemical bonds, two rings, and two stereogenic centers in a single step. Based on the novel cascade transformation, we achieved a unified strategy toward the stereoselective total syntheses of C-15 oxygenated ...

Abstract One of the postulated structures of karatavic acid is confirmed via the total synthesis by means of the mercury(II) triflate/amine complex-induced olefin cyclization and subsequent short step transformations. Stereochemistry of this new class of natural product is also established.

ABSTRACT The total syntheses of three drimane-type sesquiterpenoids, (–)-mniopetal E, (–)-mniopetal F, and (–)-kuehneromycin A, are described. These natural products inhibit the enzymatic activity of RNA-directed DNA-polymerases (reverse transcriptases) of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1.
