Shoot organogenesis in tissue culture of Drimys Winteri

Plant Science Letters, 1981
Abstract Calluses from stem explants of Drimys winteri Forst. (Winteraceae) initiated shoot organogenesis in vitro in hormone-containing media under light exposure. Shoots formed from callus-derived outgrowths and from the superficial callus layers of the explants. Light inhibited callus initiation but promoted growth of established cultures.

Isolation and identification of active compounds from Drimys winteri barks

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1998
The barks of Drimys winteri are used in folk medicine as a remedy to treat several diseases, including dolorous processes. Previous pre-clinical experiments carried out in our laboratories revealed that the hydroalcoholic extract of this plant showed anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties.

Presence of polygodial and drimenol in Drimys populations from Chile

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 2007
Drimys winteri (Winteraceae) is a tree with medicinal properties native to Chile. Its bark contains polygodial and drimenol in unknown quantities, with antimicrobial and antinociceptive activity. The purpose of the present study was to quantify polygodial and drimenol concentrations in leaves of five populations of D.

A sesquiterpene drimane with antinociceptive activity from Drimys winteri bark

Phytochemistry, 2001
Along with three known drimanes, polygodial. 1-beta-(p-methoxycinnamoyl) polygodial and mukaadial, the sesquiterpene drimane named drimanial was isolated from the bark of Drimys winteri (Winteraceae). Its structure was elucidated based on spectroscopic evidence.

Antibacterial activity and toxicity of drimys brasiliensis

2012
Men have used medicinal plant properties to treat infectious diseases. Both the rise of emerging infectious diseases as the microbial resistance problem has stimulated the searching for new antimicrobial agents. This study evaluated the antibacterial activity and toxicity of crude extracts, fractions and pure compounds from Drimys brasiliensis.
