Isolation and identification of active compounds from Drimys winteri barks
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1998The barks of Drimys winteri are used in folk medicine as a remedy to treat several diseases, including dolorous processes. Previous pre-clinical experiments carried out in our laboratories revealed that the hydroalcoholic extract of this plant showed anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties.

(−)-3β-Acetoxydrimenin from the leaves of Drimys winteri
Phytochemistry, 1985Abstract A new natural product, 3β-acetoxydrimenin was isolated from the petrol extract of the leaves of Drimys winteri which also contains the known compounds safrol, drimenol and polygodial. The structure of the new compound was determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods.

ORGANOGENESIS IN THE CARPELLATE FLOWER OF DRIMYS LANCEOLATA
American Journal of Botany, 1966This study of floral development in Drimys lanceolata in Section Tasmannia provides a basis for comparison with D. winteri, a member of the section Wintera, which has been described previously. The carpellate flowers of D. lanceolata have 2 sepals, 4–6 petals, and a solitary carpel, which form in acropetal succession.

Shoot organogenesis in tissue culture of Drimys Winteri
Plant Science Letters, 1981Abstract Calluses from stem explants of Drimys winteri Forst. (Winteraceae) initiated shoot organogenesis in vitro in hormone-containing media under light exposure. Shoots formed from callus-derived outgrowths and from the superficial callus layers of the explants. Light inhibited callus initiation but promoted growth of established cultures.

A sesquiterpene drimane with antinociceptive activity from Drimys winteri bark
Phytochemistry, 2001Along with three known drimanes, polygodial. 1-beta-(p-methoxycinnamoyl) polygodial and mukaadial, the sesquiterpene drimane named drimanial was isolated from the bark of Drimys winteri (Winteraceae). Its structure was elucidated based on spectroscopic evidence.
