Agricultural Drip Irrigation

2016
Subsurface drip irrigation saves water, improves crop yields and quality, and facilitates fertilizer application; however, system performance is dependent upon skilled management. Potential disadvantages include salt accumulation near plants, restricted root development, high system costs, and restricted crop rotation.

Frequency of Irrigation for Subsurface Drip-irrigated Corn

Transactions of the ASAE, 1994
Four time-based treatments and four soil water depletion-based treatments were used to evaluate the effect of irrigation frequency on the production of subsurface drip-irrigated corn. Cumulative soil water depletion was calculated and replenished every 1, 3, 5, and 7 days for the time-based treatments.

Beyond Drip Irrigation - Hyper-efficient Irrigation

2006 Portland, Oregon, July 9-12, 2006, 2006
Plant establishment in arid lands and seasonally dry site can be improved using hyperefficient irrigation systems. These will work where drip, sprinkler, furrow or basin irrigation cannot. Deep pipe and porous tube irrigation systems enabled plants to survive for three years in extreme conditions with a total of less than 10 liters of irrigation ...
