Genetic architecture of angular leaf spot resistance in cultivated strawberry shaped by epistasis and genotype‐by‐environment interactions

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Angular leaf spot (ALS), caused by Xanthomonas fragariae, is a bacterial disease that limits strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) productivity worldwide. Although major resistance loci have been identified in wild Fragaria species, their introgression into elite germplasm remains constrained by linkage drag and inconsistent inheritance. To dissect

Inoculation With Azospirillum brasilense and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Enhances Tomato Resilience to Severe Water Deficit: A Comprehensive Morpho‐Physiological and Biochemical Analysis

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens significantly enhances tomato tolerance to severe water deficit. This strategy boosts agronomic performance, strengthens antioxidant defences and regulates secondary metabolites, providing a sustainable agricultural approach to combat water scarcity and climate change impacts ...

Vegetal Infrastructure: Rwanda's Eucalyptus Boom and the Material Politics of Tree Planting as a ‘Nature‐Based Solution’

open access: yesThe Geographical Journal, Volume 192, Issue 2, June 2026.
Short Abstract This article analyses the political ecology of Rwanda's eucalyptus boom, situating it as a site of tension within a global push towards ‘nature‐based solutions’. It develops the concept of vegetal infrastructure, demonstrating how certain tree species become legible to global environmental governance while making local social ...

Investigation of the global transportation of Culicoides biting midges, vectors of livestock and equid arboviruses, from flower‐packing plants in Kenya

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 260-267, June 2026.
Arboviral diseases spread by Culicoides biting midges have been introduced into Europe by unknown means. A possible route is the carriage of midges with cut flowers shipped to flower markets. We sampled Culicoides in and around a cut flower farm in Kenya; midges were caught in the vicinity and a greenhouse, but not where flowers are processed.
