Improving Water Use Efficiency of Rice-Wheat Cropping System by Adopting Micro-Irrigation Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management, 2015
Rice-wheat is the predominant cropping system and contributes more than 70% of food grain production in India. However, major problem in this system is depletion and deterioration of water resources.

Comparative Study of Tympanic Membrane Regeneration Therapy for Chronic Otitis Media

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study compared tympanic membrane regeneration therapy (TMRT) with conventional tympanoplasty (CTP) for the treatment of chronic suppurative perforated otitis media (COM). TMRT has many advantages over CTP as a surgical treatment for COM. In particular, significant differences were observed in operative time, hearing improvement, and patient ...

The Automated Root Exudate System (ARES): a method to apply solutes at regular intervals to soils in the field. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Root exudation is a key component of nutrient and carbon dynamics in terrestrial ecosystems. Exudation rates vary widely by plant species and environmental conditions, but our understanding of how root exudates affect soil functioning is incomplete, in ...

Response of specific leaf area to light: comparative study of a large species set

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Specific leaf area (SLA) is a commonly used proxy for the leaf economy spectrum in plants, separating species with low‐cost leaves (in terms of carbon) with short lifespan and hence fast turnover from species with high‐cost and long‐lived leaves. While SLA is used mainly for interspecific comparisons, it also varies within species both ontogenetically ...

The landing of parachuted technology: Appropriation of centralised drip irrigation systems by irrigation communities in the region of Valencia (Spain)

open access: yesWater Alternatives, 2021
Drip irrigation technology in existing collective surface irrigation schemes is frequently implemented through top-down policies and black box projects, causing significant changes in agricultural water management, uneven effects on local practices and ...

THE DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM

open access: yesINTERANTIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
Irrigation can be defined as the process of applying artificial water to soil or land in order to promote the growth of agricultural crops such as corn and wheat. Water irrigation has a number of advantages, including an increase in crop yield, protection against famine, revenue generation, and the avoidance of mixed cropping.

Nutritional properties, traditional uses and potential new applications for the sotol plant (Asparagaceae, Convallarioideae): A review

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Sotol (Dasylirion spp.) is a resilient desert plant that sustains ecosystems, cultures and livelihoods in Chihuahua Desert. Our review highlights its nutritional properties, traditional uses and potential new applications in food, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy and water remediation. By synthesizing evidence across disciplines, we show how sotol can

How does leaf age affect performance? A comparative study of essential oils from young and mature Eucalyptus globulus leaves in crop protection

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.

APPLICATION OF DRIP IRRIGATION ON COTTON PLANT GROWTH (Gossypium sp.)

open access: yesAgric, 2017
The condition of cotton planting in South Sulawesi is always constrained in the fulfillment of water. All plant growth stages are not optimal to increase production, so it is necessary to introduce good water management technology, such as through water ...
